Play-off details announced

November 15, 2005

The dates, venues and match officials for the forthcoming promotion/relegation play-off have been announced – although the identity of Shamrock Rovers’ opponents will not be decided until after this weekend’s final round of eircom League First Division matches.

The Hoops will contest the two-legged affair as they aim to save their Premier Division scalps.

They will take on either Dublin City – a local derby and a meeting between Roddy Collins’s present and former clubs – or Cobh Ramblers in the tie, which will take place on November 22nd and 25th.

Should Dublin represent the First Division in the game, the first leg will take place at Dalymount Park on November 22nd with the return at a venue yet to be decided – most likely Whitehall – three days later.

If Cobh pip the Vikings to second spot in the First Division this weekend, the first leg will take place at St Colman’s Park next Tuesday, with the return at Dalymount Park on the Friday night (25th).

Regardless of the make-up of the tie, there will be Dublin referees on duty: Paul Tuite will be the man in the middle for the first leg, with Damien Hancock taking charge of the second game.
