Why shouldn't Dublin City get a licence? If its the fact they don't own their own ground - well that applies to Rovers too.

We will get a license because the club is run properly now.

It takes two thirds of the clubs to vote for the format next season. So for example if 15 clubs vote for a 22 team division then thats what we'll have.

Well assuming that all the first division clubs would prefer this, that still means that 5 premier clubs will have to vote for it. I don't think that will happen somehow.

It's not about voting, it's about clubs failing to get a licence. If any significant amount of clubs fail in their licence application, the whole process will be deemed null and void and the 2 divisions merged into 1.

unlikely ill admit, but the so caleed 'yo-yo' clubs, those who are regularly up and down, yourselves, harps, sligo, ucd, home farm might hedge their bets.
    improbable, but certainly not impossible.

The current season is better for yoyo clubs as they get boost in attendances when bottom of the Premier & then top of the first division. Would Sligo or Harps get 5000 at a mid-table 22 team division?

Besides how do you fit 42 league games into a season with 2 week break.

wouldnt be so sure. i used the phrase 'hedging'. 1 guaranteed home game v Rovers, Cork etc a year vs possibly 2 every second season or so.
I dont know the voting intentions of individual clubs, but i wouldnt assume prem clubs will vote against the 22 team set up because they are prem clubs.

Jeez, we've only been relegated twice ever. There must be a lot of yo-yo clubs so!

    Wink No Rovers no fun..

Love them or hate them, the Premier Division needs Rovers just as much as the hoops need the Premier Division. They are the biggest and most successful name in Irish Soccer and probably always will be. I would love to see Rovers properly establish themselves in the huge catchment area that is Tallaght as there is potentially a huge fanbase there and this can only be good for Rovers and the Eircom League in the long run. A club like Dublin City will contribute nothing to the Premier Division. We need the top teams in the top division and Rovers fit the bill!

Wouldn't agree with that, who else could we laugh at?

May their stay in the First Division be a long and unpleasant one!

Thing is will that happen? What's the bets that all clubs will again be given licences like last year? For 2007 they are really pushing for their holy grail: the Genesis Report.

That's the rumour going round. Either everyone gets a provisional licence and we have a 22 team league or (more likely) they kick it into touch citing Genesis.

Im all for having less Dublin clubs in the Premier but would hate to see Rovers go down. Much rather see a club like Pats or UCD go down.

Rovers are the team we all love to hate and they are the only fans who bring decent numbers to the Cross
    Oh no not them again
