So why not let them do it in the first?
I think it would be terrible for Rovers to go down. They create an atmosphere in all grounds and bring colour and character to the leagueOriginally Posted by hoopy

Rovers could start long lasting reltionships with fellow eircom leauge fans from around the countryrelax lads only joking.
Again, some people could say that we didn't earn them fair and square because we wouldn't have even been playing those matches only for some engineering 'on our' behalf..Originally Posted by kickR

The reason Rovers were deducted 8 points is known only to the management of the eL and maybe Rovers board. According to the rules they should've been kicked out but the league fidged and plucked the 8 points figure out of the air. Thats the reason most Rovers fans aren't complaining too loudly abot the points deduction. They know the alternative
(Oh and I don't think they should've been kicked out, as the whole licensing thing is a joke)

Yes Dodge, but without those accounts would we have got a licence to go and win those 8 points to complain about? The theory would be that we wouldn't and so the 8 points 'gained' there were not gained fairly so to speak.
Anyway that's why I don't complain about them anyway and we are where we are...![]()

It'd be píss funny if Rovers lost to CHF, mainly because of Shoddy.
Hate Dublin City more, Seery is just as bad as Oily imo, we're just lucky he doesn't have the influence (yet). In his short time in charge he's already threatened legal action once, which resulted in the season being extended for us and Harps.
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Is this the way to athlone town
roddy collins is bringing u down
is this the way to athlone town
the first division waits for u
Can't F****NG Wait the homeless are going the way of the DODO and
the Dinosaur As Darwin Said the Survival of the fittest And death to the in weak inbread rovers SCUM!!!
Ignoring the last brain dead comment from someone who cant even spell I genuinely fear us going down. Confidence is in the toilet, lost 5 in a row which will be 6 friday cos all the kids will be playing, CHF are scoring goals for fun, albeit in the first division.
One of the lads was at whitehall saturday and says that we should be alright cos CHF are garbage so hopefully that coupled with our suspended players back will see us through cos us in the first division would be the end. And there would be no guarantee that we would get out in a year.
But then again the format for the league has not been decided for next year so we could get a reprieve![]()

"Shams"are relegated, one could easily imagine a re-structured league for next season.
Ah the good old conspiracy theory!Originally Posted by Patrick Dunne

I think I speak for a lot of eL fans in that I'm conflicted on this one
1. Rovers would be a loss to the premier
2. CHF are not a football club IMO
3. Getting relegated for having 8 points deducted is not right
BUT....
4. Seeing Roddy lose Dublin City after waht he did would be priceless

We beat them 3-1 in the League Cup (granted, reserves v. reserves) and 2-0 in the FAI Cup without too many problems. There's a decent gap between top of the First and bottom of the Premier. Especially when you consider that Rovers on the field are seventh and Dublin City would have finished fifth last season with the number of points they have.Originally Posted by NY Hoop
I expect Rovers to beat us tbh. We've won one game in two months and with the possible exception of the Harps away game that I missed, have been toothless up front for most of that period.Originally Posted by NY Hoop

One of the most bizarre reasons that some people are citing to want us to go down is their hatred of Roddy! Lads, we hate him even MORE than the rest of you, but we are certainly not cutting off our nose to spite our face. Whether we will ne playing in the First or the Premier next year I don't want that man at Rovers.
Ireland: Discovered!
I want Cobh to get into the play off and get promoted.
Simply cos its a biotch of a journey down there and we'll
have a long trip up to Ballybofey next season aswell!

I have to say that having witnessed ICBINHF up close on saturday my confidence is slowly coming back, despite the scoreline which was extremely flattering considering the circumstances it was one of the worst games of ball i'd watched in a long time! Quite simply if we lose over the 2 games we deserve to be relegated & i'll have no complaints either! They are no way even close to the poorest premier division teams i've seen this year (allowing for form at the times of the matches)
As for the debate here, i fully appreciate alot of people wanting us to go down, put it this way if it were bohs, pats or shels i'd be going to the games & cheering for ICBINHF, too right i would, thats what rivalry is all about, the bragging rights would be for one season at least, awesome!!
I personally think it'll be tight due to the circumstances & no doubt media hype around the games but expect us to win out, if not, well so be it, thats life, thats football!

Thomas Davis have said they will be the last man standing, they were WRONG!!
SRFC will NEVER die!!
it would take a lot for a 1st Division team to beat a premier team. but i can dream!Originally Posted by DvB

I don't see Rovers losing to either Cobh or Dublin. They've been battling against Derry/Cork/Shels while Cobh and Dublin have been playing Athlone/Monaghan. The advantage is always with the Premier club (Blues are the only ones who lose play-offs) and Rovers should have enough quality to pull through.
It's a win-win situation for the rest of the league. If Rovers lose, it will be hilarious and great for the First Division. If they win, we can renew rivalries with them next year and it will be easier for Harps, etc to be promoted next year.
