    300K per squad member

The English FA have signed a deal with the players association which will mean that if England win the world cup in germany next year each squad member will receive 300K.

Cant say I agree with this. International football is about pride NOT money. Although I cant see this having the same effect as Chelsea's overspending has had with the premiership. But it might sway some players that are on the fence to commit to England as opposed to Ireland for example.

Is this common practise among international football associations does anyone know?

Yeah, very common. I remeber during the Euros there was discussion about what the Germans would get compared to the Greeks. It was a big difference. I know Otto Rehagel got plenty of money asa a bonus.

I think it's stupid. As you said it's about pride not money.

I do think that a player on the fence would want to be fairly confident that he can make it into the England team. I think it would be alot tougher to do.

I don't think the amount would matter that much to most of the England players, even lower paid players in the England squad (James, Crouch, possibly King) make roughly that amount in less than 2 months. The like of the likes of Beckham, Lampard, Owen, Rooney and Ferdinand can make it in less than 4 weeks.

Didn't our "hero's" threaten strikes before over their cut of the wedge of the "honour" of playing for the shirt?

The Ireland players are just as bad as they usual got 50% of FAIs revenue from World Cup qualification.

Wakey, wakey. Every team is promised the sun, moon and stars for their bonuses at every World Cup. There must be a few Rip Van Winkle's out there.
