No, that's called being sh*t. Bottling it would be proving you're good enough and loseing via BOTTLING IT due to lack of nerve. That's what bottling it means. Shels simply haven't been good enough for large parts of the season.Originally Posted by GavinZac
Ricos Shels team 'bottled it', this seasons Shels team simply didn't click/start playing well enough in time. If there was an issue with bottle we'd have known about it two titles ago.

unless im mistaken, this was the time when your local rag showed a picture of the cork scrote who threw it being frogmarched out under the heading 'rovers run amock' or somesuch. they retracted the story later.
we digress, keep it on topic.
more reasons why derry is better than cork. keep em coming

have no recollection of that, but if true apologies on behalf of rovers fans. we have banned a number of individuals since then and the standard of stewarding has improved dramatically.
but my original point about head in the sand at cork towords trouble you cause stands. as shown beyond doubt by a mod on here (no names) refusing to condemn it and closing the thread when queues of people objected to him glorifying violence.
I don't think that's fair.Originally Posted by Roverstillidie

We're no different and have implemented the necessary changes.

Joking aside, I think that the "chip on the shoulder" attitude which seems to be a defining characteristic among a lot of people from Cork has inevitably cost supporters of their team any goodwill from the supporters of other clubs.
However, I wouldn't begrudge Cork their success this year. They have been the best team that I have seen in the flesh this year, play good football and have good players. I am sure that they would do the league justice in the Champions League next year, (though how far that means I do not know) and would be deserving Champions.
They have played an awful lot of games though, a lot of big games too, and I think that they may have ran out of steam. I thought that against Bohs a couple of weeks ago was the poorest performance that I had seen from them this season, and I think that their manager's reputation as a "bottler" can only be adding to the pressure at Turners Cross.
As for Derry, I have not been overly impressed by them this season and I think that they were very lucky to get such a high return of points from Bohemians. However, they are in contention for the title on merit and the momentum seems to be with them. I would like to see them win it for two reasons, firstly Stephen Kenny is their manager and secondly providing Cork win the FAI Cup the Setanta and Intertoto spots will be going to whichever club finishes 4th in the league.
what trouble? you just said yourself the "cork scrote" who threw something was frog marched out and banned from the ground. a glass being thrown at us in richmond was unpunished and apparantly unsurprising. i did feel pity that around 50 of your fans felt the need to spend the 2nd half trying to provoke us rather than watching the match.Originally Posted by Roverstillidie

I haven't read the 5 pages preceding this but thought I would throw in my tuppence worth.
I expected Cork to draw with Rovers tonight but looking at the list of absentees the Hoops have I'm not so sure. The simple fact is that Cork have no talisman in attack.
Cork are on a bad run. We lost to Waterford fair enough but they scored their one chance of the evening while Cork couldn't score past a 9 man Pats team. Drawing with Waterford and only beating us because of a disgraceful pitch again shows their form ened with the second series of matches.
Someone said that the Cork defence is going through a bad spell, McCourt has been ferocious in recent weeks and he'll punish any lapses as will K Brennan.
For the first time this season I am confident, a famous little scrote said that it was destiny that his team would beat us and he we got the last laugh but I really believe our destiny this year is to win this league. I am not saying this out of blind ambition as all year I felt Cork would triumph but everything has changed and come the 18th the biggest turnaround in this leagues history will be complete.
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker

They beat us in the same way that Waterford beat you.
You sad little child. Was their some magical pitch in Turners Cross that night which was good for us and bad for you?Originally Posted by Speranza
We beat you because Stephen O'Flynn committed a foul in the penalty area and George O'Callaghan scored the resultant free kick.
Something you might want to consider though, Cork City FC have won all their games in Dublin this season.

If the scores from next 3 games are:
City 1 Rovers 0
City 0 Shels 10
City 1 Derry 0
then we win the league.
We may be stumbling but this team is proven big game team.
If the Results are:
Cork 0:1 Rovers
Shels 1:0 Cork
Derry 1:0 Pats
Cork 99:99 Derry
Cork finish 3rd. Its ever so, ever so possible!!![]()

Is tonight's game on any tv station?
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.
Unfortunately not!![]()

Typical, the most exciting climax to a season possible and not even tv3 or tg4 could muster up the interest, I see Setanta have Friday's game, who has the City v Derry game?

Funny how the only posters who ever insult me personally are those from Cork, ain't it? Wonder why?Originally Posted by GavinZac

We will get our license next year, no problem.the question is, will you be in the premier next season now that you have no A license?

I never said we will beat Cork, we could be 3 down at half time for all I know. But, if we get stuck in, and take the game to them on a wet night, I don't think they'll fancy it, and we might nick it 1-0. We've beaten Shels and Derry already this season, there's no reason on current form, to suggest why we can't catch Cork on the hop too. They're the ones with the pressure, so if they don't win, Derry have one hand on the trophy, and can clinch it at the weekend. If we win, Finn Harps are relegated, and it builds the momentum up to the Waterford game. 3 more points from that one would mean top-flight survival again.![]()

i know that you've personally insulted me a fair few times when i point out how foolish you sound ("keeping the ball on the wing should be a foul!") so you're fair game. dont know any other cork fans who insult you but i presume its for similar reasons.Originally Posted by mypost

Losing to Waterford in their last home game has nothing to do with Derry's "superb" run of form eitherOriginally Posted by Roo69
