    Please No, Not Kinnear

    From Skysports.com

Joe Kinnear has revealed that SPL outfit Hearts have made an approach for him.

The 58-year-old has not worked since he left Nottingham Forest in 2004, but he is now wanted by Hearts, while he is also being considered by Republic of Ireland.

The Irish are still considering a number of names as they look for Brian Kerr's successor - and Kinnear claims he is in the reckoning to take charge at Lansdowne Road.

Hearts are reported to be looking for an experienced campaigner to take on a director of football role and that is what Kinnear claims to be on offer from Tynecastle.

"Hearts have made an approach and I am keen," said Kinnear.

"But it's also very flattering to be on the Ireland shortlist."

Hearts appointed Rix weeks ago. This can't be a new story.

Sorry Livehead, I only glanced at the original post, I didn't realise he was talking about Director of Football, rather than manager.

Either he is spoofing as the FAI are not likely to issue a denial or we can hope that Kinnear's interpretation of a shortist is 'in the top 100'.

If the FAI hadn't gone with their stupid interview approach last time round we would have had Kinnear instead of McCarthy and it would have been much better then. I wanted him for the job.
That said I don't think he's right for it now. He hasn't been managing much lately and certainly not with any great success.

having seen forest play many many times under him, hes not suited to the modern game, although the lack of fitnes of the players is not something that an international manager can do much about. theres not a chance in hell that he would have been better than mccarthy. kinnear should have had to go through the same process as anyone else, he shouldn't get the job this time because he's fallen on hard times, he should have said yes the first time, its an honour to manage 'your' country, not a chore. im not even 100% that kinnear even considers himself irish, just listening to him speak, and i don't mean his accent, is attitutude and opinion, ya just feel theres a tan element to him. not that this should matter too much, i just wouldn't give that clown the job full stop, imagine him advising the likes of duff and keane in what he wants them to do for him when the best player he has managed is probably Efan Ekoku

He was on the shortlist for the Ireland job when Mick was appointed, but didn't want to go through the whole interview farce that the FAI cooked up. To be fair, he record of moderate success at a small club like Wimbledon should have been proof enough that he weas good enough for the Ireland job.

Kinnear hasn't got a clue of the modern game! When he left Forest (when we were in the Championship) he left the entire squad in a mess - the players were not fit, not on the right diets - not professional!

Have to laugh really at Livehead's comments about him advising Duff etc. - can you imagine, Duff would tell him where to go and rightly so - Kinnear is nowhere near intl management material...

I listened to an interview of Delaney on the radio recently, he admitted being a huge ManU fan, having being introduced by the late Shay Brennan. This probably explains why he wanted Bryan Robson as manager last time. So, I'd imagine any ex-United players would have a chance of getting the job. So who's out there that's not tied to a contract, Wilkins, Stapo, Bruce in the near future, lots of other too

    Kinnear:
" Damien, would ya ever listen to me. I think you should hit it long, look for the head of Robbie, thats the way we're gona take on the Polish centre backs. Hit it long, it works, I did it 8 years ago with Marcus Gayle and Big Efan and sure it worked a treat."

    Damien:
"But boss, that was against Coventry and they had Gazza Breen at centre half!"
