On receiving the throw-in, Fenn positively tore towards the goal when the Blues were expecting a modicum of decency from Cork. What a tosser. It was right in front of the Cork bench so Rico was obviously happy with him.

Still, you can't expect the kind of courtesy and respect from Cork that Derry are so famous for.
This has got to be a windup.
This from the team who were timewasting from the kick-off?
This is the same "injury" that when the ref whent up to him, he got up, trotted off the field and then turned around and asked to come back on?
The team that 5 or 6 players went down at every single opportunity?
That had a player booked after 22 minutes when he was the 5th player spoken to by the ref for time wasting?

Obviously I wasm't at the match, but whatever the circumstances, not giving the ball back after its put out for an injury is unsporting. Plain and simple, and while fans condone Georgies diving and play acting no Cork fan can really say its all Waterfrods fault, can they?!

    Yeah right ... whatever !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

While i'm no fan of George he'll do what it takes, as would any other player from any other club.
Waterfords cheating began after 22 seconds last night and subsequently conned a simpleton of a ref who should be put down.

Absolutely, that ref was out of his depth and shouldn't have been given such a big and high profile game. I believe both clubs were very unhappy about it.

I totally agree with ya about the ref, i dont think he was able to control a hot tempered derby which was on the cards for a while.
But hey i aint complaining about the result .

If the ball is put out because a player is down (hows that?!) it should be handed back, its a sport afterall.

I'll put it this way: if George dived against your team and stayed down (with us a goal up) and we hoofed the ball out, would you keep the ball or play on? 2 wrongs dont make a right but at least they stop one team getting an unfair advantage.

As for the title, it aint over til Dolan gets a sex change and sings

I don't know if the Fatman really had the last laugh.

Waterford have drawn with us three times this season, the previous game at the RSC finished on the same scoreline, the Blues are always up for it against us, and they often cause upsets. I don't see that he's added much to them.

As for where that leaves the league, we have to pick up a win from our next two games to guarantee it'll go to the last day of the season, we have to win both to go into the last day on top of the table.

I've no problem admitting I'm nervous, I've seen us come second too many times and it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that we're lacking an out and out goalscorer. Without one, our goals are having to come from Defenders and midfielders, you can't rely on that.

Having said that, we should beat Rovers tonight, I know they're fighting for their lives, but they have been for weeks to no avail. Fact is, we're better than them, they know they're not going straight down and they'll fancy themselves -v- Cobh.

Shels may be on fire at the moment, but let's be honest, they've been poor against the top two this season, last time they were on a good unbeaten run, it ended at Derry, I'm not sure we'll win, but I'm sure we won't lose.

Derry won't have it that easy against Pat's either next weekend, especially if we beat Rovers tonight. If that happens we could win the league in Tolka should Derry lose at home, I suspect they'll take their eyes off the ball against an improved Pat's side (with their mind's on Cork) and will struggle to beat them.

It's still in our own hands, effectively we've Rovers, they've Pat's. We have to match whatever result they get, and the Shels game decides whether we go in on top or second for the clincher.

As for the clincher, we've beaten them in the other two games at the cross this season.

You lost to Waterford, you struggled against UCD, you only put 3 past Bray who had been beaten 5-0 by Shels. Hardly what I'd call "on fire!"

I agree with that fact that the ball should be given back, but the WUFC player lies down when he loses the ball. Doesn't get up until the ref comes up to him and says he has to go off the pitch. He gets up, trots off, and when he gets to the sideline, puts his hand up for the ref to let him back on.
If O'Callaghan did that, there would be ten threads already about it, howling for his blood.

Theres no doubt that Derry are the form team in the league at the moment but league is won over 33 games.

Our defense has been poor last 2 games but have scored twice too. Win tonight at Rovers means win on last day gets title.

Fridays game was certainly one of the most nerve wrecking in my long time supporting city. Too many highs & lows for 1 game.

I was delighted to see Dolan get the abuse he deserves.

In an ordinary situation i would say we should have knocked the ball out of play but Waterford had already got at least 2 players booked for timewasting so no way ball should have kicked out. When the ball went out of play the player in question was forced to his feet by the ref & told to walk off the picth - the ref refused him attention on the pitch!!!

The RSC is no doubt the worst ground in the league. Even if lucky enough to get into the srand there is no guarantee can see both goal areas - god help anyone who has to watch from pitchside with running track between you & pitch.
