Drogheda manager, Harry McCue, made his first signing since gaining promotion to the Premier Division when he captured former UCD star Aidan Lynch.
Lynch, a former Under 21 Irish International, brings a wealth of experience to United Park and is the first new face in what McCue hopes will be a number of new faces this season:
"We did very well last season to get up and everyone will be given a chance too stake a claim for a place in the team, but there is no doubt if we are to survive we need to bring in a few more experienced players."
Lynch, one of the domestic games brightest stars a number of years ago has struggled with serious injury for some time and subsequently the deal is subjetc to Lynch passing a medical examination.
Drogheda beat off strong interest from Longford to secure the services of Lynch a factor McCue believes is significant. " It's nice to know that players like Aidan believe in Drogheda's potential and are prepared to sign up for what will be a tough season. I know there was other interest for the boy, from clubs who are likely to be vying for survival so if this gives us an edge then thats nice. "
Drogheda are also in talks with Bohemians left back Mark Dempsey and developments are expected later in the week.

He's a loss. Now we'll have to have Richie "a game isn't complete without a yellow" Purdy for all the games he's not suspended for.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
