Shamrock Rovers' were dealt a blow to their hopes of avoiding relegation as Mark Quigley and Brian Shelley have both left the club.

Manager Roddy Collins said: "Mark Quigley has returned to Millwall and Brian Shelley has got a job and is no longer available to us. To lose them is a loss."

Collins remains confident that Rovers can beat the drop though he admits that Rovers could be forced to go through the play-offs to stay up.

"If we stayed up in the play-offs, then that would be good enough because our only aim to avoid relegation. Whether that is by winning a few games or scraping through the play-offs doesn't matter.

"All that matters is the record books say we are still in this Division next season."
