Northern Ireland 0-3 Republic of Ireland

The Football Association of Irish Schools Girls Under 15 team landed the Ballymena International Tournament in style with a 3-0 win over hosts Northern Ireland today.

Needing just a draw to win the title, the Irish girls took the game to the North from the opening whistle. Within ten minutes they had dominated midfield and when the ball was taken off the line from Sarah McGrath on 23 minutes, the opening goal was inevitable.

It came seven minutes later when McGrath latched onto a through ball and calmly slotted it under the advancing keeper.

The second came on 65 minutes. It was Julie Herrity who put through Sarah Lawlor and the St Joseph’s Lucan player deftly chipped the goalkeeper from the top of the penalty area.

The scoring was completed two minutes from time with Susan Donovan shooting low to the bottom corner.
