I'd have Devine ahead of Murphy but Murphy is some player, you'd feel sorry for him. Any time I've seen him the main fault I've seen is that he doesnt come and claim the ball enough. Both would be ahead of Colgan

What age is he? Will he suffer from turning crap once he leaves Rovers like Mark O'Brien?
    Oh no not them again

A couple of good games isn't enough to give the title to Murphy.
Devine, Williams etc. have done it consistently, both at home and in Europe.[/QUOTE]

Obviously you were'nt reading here. He's had a hell of a lot more than a couple of good games

Tiktok makes some good points. Also our ex junkie keeper Ryan was always a good keeper but he made some clangers too and unfortunately they tend to stand out. Away to the scum and against Liberec spring to mind.

Good to see Bazza's still very highly rated. Too many players go downhill once they leave UCD, and Baz looked like he was going to join that list when he got banned. Was always a quality keeper for us.

Its the same as always. Its easier to look good in nets for a bad team than it is for a good team. So id give it to forde with out a doubt

Williams was top keeper for last few years but hes was very poor earlier this season which i why i think Devine should get the title.

hopefully no cork fan ever gets to manage ireland - through foot.ie i've seen outraged cork fans call for doyle, the drunk-driver, kearney, o'flynn and now devine (i'm probably missing a couple more) to be included in the irish squad
No need for the drunk driver comment.
Shouldnt be going into players personal lives but if anybody deserves a second chance its george.

I agree with michaelguineys that drunk driver comment wasn't needed but I agree with you bout the Cork thing. Next thing ya know they'll be wanting our home games in Turners Cross

See nothing wrong with the drunk driver comment. Similar to Ryan being called a junkie or Ollie Byrne being called a convicted criminal.

What about the Sligo keeper? O'Hara?

The few times I've seen him, he's been good.

Not many of ye on here have seen much of him though so that's why he's going unnoticed unfortunately

Only going from what I seen on TV... then again thats probably how anyone rates players bar those that watch there own team.

Barry Murphy for me. The one handed save he made in a Shels game (the one that was live) was the best I've seen in a long time. Point blank save where the ball was nearly beyond him. Super stuff

I suppose it's hard to blame you for a comment like that as you've probably only seen him twice. We would be already relegated without him. He is outstanding every week. He has the safest pair of hands in the league along with exceptional reflexes. The fact that he was Rovers under 21 player of the year last year and in my opinion will be our player of the year this year, speaks for his consistency.

just reading this one thing is obvious.
the standard of goalkeeping is exceptional in the EL at the moment, you could pick any one of murphy, devine, quigley, ford, a fit williams, delaney ahead of colgan in terms of ability. i havent seen the sligo lad because the first is irrelevant, and bearing in mind the sligs were telling us that they were up there with brazil circa 1970 a few weeks back, ill take it with a pinch of salt for the moment....
i get the feeling the younger ones may be off to more lucrative pastures soon

From what I've seen of him, he has looked good, but Devine has done more this season to deserve the title of "Best Keeper in the League."

I wish Murphy all the best and I'm certain that I'll see a lot more of him in the Premier Division next season. For now, he's no higher than 3rd best, in my opinion.
