Why "should" we? There's no basis for that at all looking back at our last 25 years. In fact, I think we only twice got over 450 last season in the league.:
Well we were getting bigger crowds in the Premier 5 or 6 years ago.
Eh?! We've shown that attendances are probably up this season. One semi-decent (for us) UCD attendance which falls below the league average and suddenly the whole league is going broke? Come on! :rolleyes :
Derry are second in the League potential champions, hallowe'en or no hallowe'en!

Yes when they were relegation fodder

I very much doubt it. I have guesstimates going back four or five years and I remember there being feck all at games involving Sligo and Derry.

UCD fans don't really come out in extra droves when big teams are in town. We're fairly consistent. Not fickle, like other fans!

If the game was not played on a Friday night, the attendance would have been 1,047 at least , and probably nearer 1,150 overall.

As I have repeatedly stated, crowds are average/poor, not because of Summer v Winter football, but because most games are played on the wrong night, making it a complete no-no for fans who have to travel any sort of distance, and because of early kos which also inconvenience home fans. Crowds also struggle at games played on the alternative date, i.e. Sunday afternoons, due to live GAA on tv. Until games are played at the right time, i.e. Saturday evenings at 8ish, there will continue to be poor attendances, whether we play in January or July.

I'll give you a smaller crowd for a Rovers "home" game against UCD: Season 1987/88.
Do games played in effect, behind closed doors, constitute an attendance??

Like Longford?

I think Saturday night is the right time for games. That said, Friday night does feel right for home games now...

I imagine you both are talking about the FAI Cup game in Tolka. Not any League matches.

Fans make their own choices about going to football matches. If certain fans couldn't be arsed go to a football match, don't have the gall to belittle others who go.

I think Rovers have had far worst attendances since that day.
" I'll go right up to here,
it can't possibly hurt.
All they will find is my
beer and my shirt."
