    I didn't say champions wws, I said won medals. Roche won gold and bronze, Kelly won two bronze, Shay elliot won silver in 1962 and Scanlon won the world juniors.

    an Irishman was the world cycling champion in 1896 in Copenhagen

    his name, Harry Reynolds aka the Balbriggan Flyer, they hold an anuual road race in his honour up there.

    a bone fide gold medal winner at the world championships of cycling and Irelands first cycling world champion - think he was even mentioned in magees commentry on roches win!?!?!?

    Boxing Champions: Jack McAuliffe (Cork) World Lightweight Champ in 1887. Mike McTigue (Clare) Light Heavyweight champ 1917. Steve Collins, Barry McGuigan and Michael Carruth (a mickey mouse WAA title like Dunnes and Rocks, but all are World Titles nonetheless.)
