    eircom League Fair Play tables

The following are the eircom League Fair Play tables for the 2001-2002 season. Every League match is assessed and points awarded to clubs on the basis of red / yellow cards, positive play and the behaviour / attitude of players and team officials. Match assessors also report on any incidents of a racist nature.

    Premier Division

    Bohemians 1124 pts
    Derry City 1106
    Shamrock Rovers 1099
    UCD 1098
    St Patrick’s Athletic1095
    Bray Wanderers 1092
    Cork City 1087
    Shelbourne 1086
    Longford Town 1066
    Monaghan United 1027
    Galway United 1011
    Dundalk 1003

    First Division

    Limerick FC 1114
    Athlone Town 1103
    Kilkenny City 1070
    Drogheda United 1055
    Sligo Rovers 1037
    Cobh Ramblers 1012
    Finn Harps 1009
    Dublin City 990
    Waterford United 910

The winner (Bohemians) and runner up (Derry City) in the Premier Division will receive €4500 and €1900 respectively.

The winner (Limerick FC) and runner up (Athlone Town) in the First Division will receive €2500 and €1300 respectively.

UEFA will allocate three additional places in the 2002-2003 UEFA Cup to national associations based on a defined points standard being reached in UEFA’s Fair Play competition. The association which wins UEFA’s ranking list will get a place, along with two countries drawn from those 16 countries which have a UEFA points score of 8 or higher. Clubs chosen to represent associations in these places must be drawn from the national Fair Play rankings for its top division. At present Ireland has a score of 7.937 and is ranked 24th so is most unlikely to qualify for the draw for extra places.

Jesus, it looks like Pete Mahon actually achieved something with his brand of "football". 4 and a half bills isn't bad though, it all helps...
We are nicely places in the UEFA fair play table, a few less performances like Shels against Brondby and we might get one of the extra places in a few years.

How do the points break down? How many for a match etc, I'm curious to see after all that happened off the pitch with Ollie and the Derry City lads, and registation gate how those points were determined.

No suprise then that Dundalk finished last considering what went on there.

I would think that racism in general is probally what will cost the eL being higher up in the table. There seems to be an undesirable racist element at most clubs
    Oh no not them again

Actually our disiplinary record was horrible. Until Christmas we had it seemed at least one player out due to suspensions. As for the other I think Bohs with their casuals behaviour this season would have been hammered.

I woundn't say that "most clubs" have a racist element. There have been very few incidents involving the Bohs Casuals this season, maybe one, OUTSIDE a Rovers game, little else of note.
