The swiss defence tonight was very resolute alright. I cant see them capulating very easily. It will really take something special from Ireland to win. I cant see ireland losing but the swiss only need a draw and they will be playing for the counter attack.

The 1-1 draw tonight is the worst result IMO.

agree with u rodge. cud see us possibly winning an open game with the swiss, but itl be a lot harder 2 beat a swiss team who only need a draw

Win and we're second. If Cyprus somehow pull off a shocker and hold France to a draw, we'd top the group.

Israel are not eliminated. If we were to beat the Swiss and Cyprus were to beat France, Israel would come in second and Ireland first.

I know it's a one in a million shot, but Israel would have settled for it when the draw was made.

Given the way the group has gone a draw was the most likely result as it will be on Wednesday. Our task is now harder but we certainly won't be going into the game over-confident, which is a relief

Yes, if we beat the Swiss and France don't beat Cyprus we will actually
win the group!! If we win and France win we are second.
Anything else and it's Auf Wiedersehen Deutschland.

I think from a Swiss perspective, it's better to sit back and settle for a draw and second place rather than pushing up and risking losing out altogether.

Interesting though......I doubt the French will beat Cyprus by more than three.

I'll second that totalfootball sitting back for 90 minnutes is likely to get you
what you deserve, ie nothing. We will get a goal.

Why will the Swiss sit back and settle for a draw. Their record against us in the last three games and our current form must give them the belief they can beat us.

We do not look like we can beat our way out of a paper bag.

We had one good (great) player tonight - Shay Given - The rest were dire.

I'm very very pessimistic about Wedneday now............

Surely Switzerland like us can only win the group if France slip up to Cyrpus, as France would win a head to head if they finish equal on points based on the away goal (or am I wrong?).

On that basis Switzerland could adopt a cautious approach which will make them hard to break down, but on the other hand a dangerous way to play.

How did the Swiss play last night? Do they look dangerous?

I would rather see Ireland lose to Switzerland than draw. Never mind the seedings for Euro 2008. I dont want to see Israel proceed any futher.

what about a draw. i remember benyaoun on the telly hoping for a draw against ireland and switzerland.. maybe that was for another game.

well, i think the french should manage to turn over the cyprus at home. unless they are in great spirits after playing us

If we draw with the Swiss, they would be level on 18 points with Israel.
How do permutations work then, 2-2 in Israel, 1-1 in Switzerland
Do the Swiss go through cos they scored more goals in Israel?

Thanks, is this inclusive of all games?
Were there some queries of minnows being eliminated for GD calculations?
