    First Day Fixtures

I heard on the radio today that the first day of the new season sees us at home to Shelbourne. Doing their best to ensure that next season will be run as smoothly as the shambles that still hasn't been resolved, the official FAI site makes no mention of the new season's fixtures.
I presume that RTE radio got this from somewhere reliable. Has anybody else heard anything? It would certainly be an interesting start for Mr. Cahill....

he probably wouldn't play. He'd be struck down with some mysterious "injury" the day before the game
Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?

Shamrock Rovers will battle with Dublin rivals Saint Patrick's Athletic on the attractive first round of the new season, which has been announced by the eircom League.

With the Hoops' work in their new Tallaght stadium ongoing, this match will be played Tolka Park. It should prove quite a start for Liam Buckley in his spell as Rovers boss.

Shelbourne's visit to Cork City is sure to attract a big attendance to Turner's Cross, while Drogheda United supporters' introduction to the Premier Division will be the influx of rabid Derry City supporters to United Park.

In the First Division, Kildare County's first ever game at eircom League level will be against Cobh Ramblers at Newbridge. Finn Harps' clash with Galway United at Finn Park is another intriguing fixture.

The full fixtures are as follows:

Premier Division: Bohemians v UCD; Bray Wanderers v Longford Town; Cork City v Shelbourne; Drogheda United v Derry City; Shamrock Rovers v St Patrick's Athletic.

In the First Division, there are six matches: Athlone Town v Monaghan United; Dundalk v Limerick; Finn Harps v Galway United; Kildare County v Cobh Ramblers; Kilkenny City v Sligo Rovers; Waterford United v Dublin City.
