Question Ollie- Judas or not?

Ok folks, it now appears that Ollie Cahill has indeed signed for $hel$. So, its time for each and every one of us to judge. Do you think that Ollie is nothing more than a money grabbing traitor or do you think he has served City loyally and is simply furthering his career. Personally I predict he will get the Judas treatment next season, whether he should or not is a different matter. Id like to know how you all feel about Ollie?

Excuse me if Im wrong, but this thread was done before. However, Ollie is NO judas . he is merely leaving to better his own career. In his 6 yrs with City he was only won 2 trophies, and has been 2nd in the league too many times. He is moving to a team with a posititve and professional outlook. the money is better (id imagine) and he must make enough to look after himself when he retires in 10 yrs time. As for the treatment he will recive, well your average moron will call him a money grabbing ******, you know that will happen.

What i find intersting though is that you have started a thread asking for everyones opinion coz we have to give it, yet you dont give an opinion of your own. Waiting to jump on a bandwagon are we???????????

all that judas stuff is for people with the IQ to match their shoe size. shels made him a better offer and he accepted it. end of story.

of course I am dissapointed that ollie didn't stay but we knew he was going a long time ago. best of luck to him, he is trying to make a living after all. anyway I really don't think ollie was as good this season as some of us like to believe.

Why is this thread even here? Does every player who leaves City become a Judas? So lets's see from now on...Hartigan, Johnny C, Skippy are all Judases?............ For f*cks sake COLM, grow up. Ollie Cahill is a full-time professional player. He is getting the best deal he can for himself. If a company asked you to come and work for them, gave you better wages, better conditions and better prospects, would you stay where you are?
Of course you would not. Players come and go from every club.
City have for too long promised much and delivered too little, so Ollie is going somewhere where he feels he will do better.
If you support any team, this is something you will have to get used too. Cahill owes CC nothing. And judging by your small-minded, pathetic reaction, why should any player play for City, when "fans" think as you do?
Ollie gave us all a lot of pleasure, did his bit for the club, and now is doing his bit for himself.
What you should be worried about is why CC is not professional, forward looking and ambitious enough to attract the best players, one of which is Ollie, in our league. Instead of wasting energy bitching about Ollie, why not focus on the real problem...
that CCFC are not big enough or good enough yet......

As for Ollie leaving, just deal with it....

No he is not, any person who thinks or says otherwise doesn't really think much about the Ollie C that was a City player, he is playing in a sport that offers him NO financial security after he retires in 5-10 years time. He had to do it for himself Cork City can't offer him the opportunities yet that Shels can, so I think he was right to go, the face of football in Ireland is changing but we are only at the start of it. Ollie needed something more rewarding.
Anyway how many people quit their job only to go to the opposition and they aren't called Judas.

We were lucky to have Ollie C.
Now its time to get Billy Woods back
Although Roberto Carlos would be preferential
It's only just begun...............

It's a shame that Brian Lennox take over probally came a little bit too late to persuade Ollie to stay. I personally would never regard him a a Judas. Surely it more of an endorsement of what the majority of fans thought of the previous board more than Ollie being a judas.

Also Ollie is not a Corkman, that might have been an influencing factor in his decision.

I wonder will the Biblical one give Ollie the Skippy Morley treatment??
Oh no not them again

Cant see how anyone can call ollie a judas. Have lot of respect for way he conducted himself. He never made empty promises bout signing a new deal but waited til end of season, saw out his existing contract and negotiated a better deal with another club. Good luck to him! At the moment city just cant offer the financial security or chance to advance his career ollie wanted. Get used to it, football is now a business and this is just a typical business scenario.
never underestimate the predictability of stupidity!

I won't be calling Ollie a Judas next season for sure although it will be devastating to see him in a $heliban jersey.

An important factor is that Ollie is from Tipp and not Cork. I don't accept this notion that football clubs are nothing more than business ventures and that the wage is the only important factor for players. Local players should have a desire to represent their locality that ought not be easily trumped by the lure of an extra few euro. As Ollie is not a Corkman, this does not apply to him.

However, I'd be all behind chants like "you're only there for the money"

There's no doubt that Ollie does all the supporters' respect when he returns for the year's service he's put in here - similar to way Gareth Cronin was received on his first return to the Cross. However the term supporters will hardly extend to the morons who will inevitably generate some abuse. However it will be very disappointing if Shels first visit co-incides with them being top of the table and us struggling the bottom-half because Murphy has failed in his quest to adequately replace Ollie.

P.S Hey Dricky, I should have had a patent on my signature!

With a bit of luck, Ollie will get bored playing in front of 20 fans and come back to City like Skippy did!!

Firstly the only real successful players at $hel$ have been returnees from england as a lot of good players taken from other eL teams get worse on joining $hel$ e.g. Avery John, Minnock, Brian Byrne etc...... from the last couple of years. Even Hutton hasn't been that good with shels.

Whether Ollie is a judas or not we still need a judas flag for the 1st trip to tolka of next season.

Ollie,a 'Judas',not a chance! Ollie has served City loyally and like very few before since he joined the club. For the last number of years he has been the best player in the country but, at 27 Ollie has to start thinking of winning some medals for himself. Medals, that, being totally objective about it, won't be won by City at least for 2 or 3 years. All true City fans will I am sure be appreciative of Ollie's efforts on behalf of City and wish him all the best at $hel$.

So that Pete can be on the recieving end of an alleged punch from Ollie Byrne Laden

They have been trying Mucky out on the left as a replacement for Ollie in recent games, not sure if he is up to it.
Oh no not them again

Ollie's no judas he left because Shels are a better club for him to be at than City right now- end of story. Ollie's has thrilled me and ****ed me off at various times in his City career, but there's no denying that he is a legend among City players and a crowd favourite. It'll be sickening to see him in a $h€liban jersey just as it was to see Gareth in a shams jersey, but thats life.

I'm sure some gentle taunting wouldn't go amiss- a la "oh billy billy"- but leave the judas chants inthe gutter where they belong- oh, and for Liam O'brien

No, I have already stated my opinion on a number of threads. I have said that I would have wished Ollie the best of luck had he gone to Hibs/ Kilmarnock but I dont think that I will be able to forgive him for going to $hel$. That, however, doesnt mean that I am going to start calling him a Judas and every other name under the sun. I think that Eanna is right and that a few gentle taunts to get our point across would suffice.

All that said, I still think that he is going to get a torrid time from quite a few people when he returns to the cross. Sure, wernt their an fair few waving money at him and calling him a $hel$ b@stard and he hadnt even left at that stage.

I wish him the best of luck, as long as its not at our expense of course!!!

This seems strange, it appears that I am the only one to say OLLIE IS A JUDAS! Éanna's reason for Ollie not being a Judas is actually my reason for him being a Judas.

Ollie would have stayed if City gave him more money than Shels, ie he went to the money. He showed no loyalty to the club. He could have said around Xmas that he intended to leave the club, so we could have sold him for a knocked down price, instead we now get nothing. His willingness to wait and see who offered him the most money showed that he did not transfer for football reasons. If he had loyalty, he would have stayed at the club which gave him a life line back into soccer after his cross channel attemped failed. Instead, he left us the moment things got bad.

Loyalty = not-Judas, Ollie has no loyalty for us, therefore, he is (IMO) a money grabbing Judas!

I can only hope that he is not regestered propperly for them
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
