    2026 Kit Bag

Are Sligo the first club to officially launch their 2026 jersey?

    Looks very Shelbourne-esque.
Went up to Saratoga, where my horse naturally won.

A star normally signifies winning 10 leagues, or European trophies and the like.
If it's for a much loved individual then that's a nice touch I guess.

Harps are supposedly moving to a new kit supplier after being supplied by Joma for the last 7 or 8 years.

Was he a poet also? Look no problem with his credentials and nice to remember but always thought a bit ridiculous the star over crest for this type of thing, when its commonly accepted (but not a rule) that it is generally for 10 league (top tier) titles +. Have it on the back of the top guys.

Also think retro Sligo kit of red and white stripes, red shorts and red socks far better, they had this when they won their first title or more modern times one in 1977. Classic strip, the all red top is far too similar to Pats or Shels.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Personally, I think clubs should only put a star on once they can say that they've had ten Johnny Chaddas.

If you haven't had ten Johnny Chaddas, I think it looks a bit silly and cheapens the whole thing.

It undermines how difficult it is for a club to put together a dynasty, to dominate Johnny Chaddas each year and secure multiple Johnny Chaddas.

Agree. Not sure why LOI clubs continue using the big international firms like Adidas and Umbro. They'll never give Irish clubs much priority, tailorisation or range. O'Neills seems to be the way to go these days.

Also - as someone with a soft spot for Sligo, I think it's wrong when they play in all red. I mean - they're literally called 'The BIT o' Red' !? Not the all reds.

How does it represent him? Especially if hardly anyone knows or realises.

The way that clubs chuck around things like stars these days just makes the whole thing daft IMO.

More importantly - Will a star be included on the shirt?

This poem he wrote. Played before home games. Our fans know what it means.

Clubs will go with whoever they get the best deal out of. How their kit looks is secondary really.

Not to the fans it isn't !

The best deal will surely be a combination of revenue contribution per shirt sold, likely total sales, range of items available etc. I'd be surprised if Umbro could make the best pitch for all of those things combined - especially at a relatively small club like Sligo (?). You only have to look at what Bohs have been able to do with O'Neills. Absolutely no way they could do anyting like that at an Adidas or Umbro
