    2027 FIFA Women's World Cup

The draw for the qualifiers took place yesterday, with Ireland drawn in League A2 along side France, the Netherlands, and Poland.
Realistically, as fourth seeds, we're not going to qualify automatically, so the team have to aim to finish higher than fourth, and avoid a play off against a League B side. If we come through the first play off round, there's a second play off round against the winners of a tie from the League A/League B play offs

Lost the opening game against France in Tallaght last night. Took the lead in the first half, and we were containing France until half time. Mallard's introduction at half time changed the game for France, she went on to score twice. We can be disappointed with the result, especially the second goal, but I thought there was evidence of a gameplan against the higher ranked side, and I'd have hopes of taking something from the Dutch in Utrecht on Saturday

Another 2-1 loss in the second game of the double header, this time against the Netherlands. We were missing O'Sullivan's presence in midfield and looked very weak on the left hand side where most of the Dutch attacks seemed to come from. Currently bottom of the group without a point. A four point return is the minimum in the double header against Poland in April if we want to avoid relegation to League B

Going by the playoff performances v Belgium and these 2 games the ladies team have made good progress, this coach knows her stuff. I'd say they look div 1 standard and are good for 3rd spot and WC qualification . Things might have changed with Poland since, but in their 2025 Euro qual campaign they had a 100% loss record in div one.
