Axel Sjoberg not being offered a new contract apparently , suppose it's not a major surprise with Boyce arriving .
True, Axel is a likeable lad who always gives his all. He’s very good and aggressive defensively but offers very little going forward with his inability to properly cross a ball. I’ve always felt that him and Ryan McLaughlin are opposites of each other in some ways (injury prone-ness aside!), in that McLaughlin's strengths are very much on the ball but isn’t as good defensively as Axel. Yeah , you could never criticize him for effort , unlike others in the squad . Wonder will any other LOI club sign him up ?
Wouldn't mind seeing him at Bohs. We badly need some depth in the full back positions and have for a while.
Conor Malley signs permanently for Rovers, he’s been quality since he came in, big upgrade on McEneff. Been especially good in Europe which is obviously important.
Kerry sign Harry Hallwax from Longford - bit of a strange one, when Matt Connor will presumably be the number one, and Darragh Foley was a serviceable backup when called upon, even if the Rovers match proved a challenge too far.
It would be better to blood Foley than signing Halwax. Halwax improved as the season went on (apparently) but he wouldn't make my five a side team.
Disaster for Drogheda as fullback Owen Lambe who just signed a new contract has done his ACL over in America while keeping fit ahead of pre-season training in a couple of weeks

So the latest in the bizzare world of senior football in Limerick is Lee j Lynchs move to Limerick FC as Sporting Director /coach to their u 17s and with this its also claimed by the local radio,s soccer correspondent.[who also does media on/for Treaty and now is also an employee of Limerick FC managing their junior soccer side].. that he still wants to play for Treaty.......confused.....ehmmm
I see Pats have confirmed Ronan Boyce, I thought he would have chosen Bohs for European football, so I wonder who Bohs will chase now for that position and is it something Boyce will regret?
Isn’t that strange for a footballer for a part time team. If he was the director of any other company that wasn’t a football club you wouldn’t even bat an eyelid. It’d be a different story if Treaty were full time though.
But the strange thing here is they'll be directly competing for sponsorship, underage players, supporters, grants, access to facilities, etc.

Limerick really need to get their act together in relation to senior football. You would think they could have a decent club there if it wasn't for the in fighting.

This interview is embarrassing.
One person, who is involved in Limerick FC and is getting a wedge to manage their junior side, interviewing the newly announced sporting director of the same club and letting on nothing.
Basically taking advantage of a radio slot to further their agenda and let people know that they're going to rebrand as Limerick United (which has been known with a while as Limerickunited.com redirects to their Facebook) and that they want to merge with Treaty United in the medium term.
Now while Treaty United are far from perfect (what League of Ireland club is), why any club would want to merge with one that has:
- Dennis Lukens
- Pat O'Sullivan
- Mark Heffernan (who you will find some interesting Google results on)
Combined with the fact that in their last few years of Senior football, Limerick FC oversaw:
- Not paying wages for part of 2018 and for almost the entirety of 2019.
- The above was no doubt a catalyst for murky people to get involved with players which led to much publicised match fixing.
- That match fixing led to a CAB raid on a senior training session which saw teenagers have their bags searched and phones taken, amongst the rest of the players.
- Sean Russell having his career ended due to the negligence of the club.
- The club having an away kit which they never actually had because they couldn't afford it.
You'd want to be morally bankrupt to put all of the above that happened in your rear view mirror and align yourself with Limerick FC. What issues there are with Treaty United are easier to fix than it is to rejuvenate Limerick FC.
In the short term the only way that Limerick can "hurt" Treaty is via the academy, but outside of a few local names I don't know what else Limerick have going for them.
Limerick's ability to polarise and divide and be conquered puts Dundalk in the halfpenny place. Clubs come and go elsewhere but if Limerick football ever properly united without massively inflated egoes involved they could really be regional powerhouse if not national. A strong single Limerick side would probably have made Kerry's entrance to the league harder, would be significant competition for Galway for players from the region or willing to go west, even hoover up Cork talent when they were messing. Tipperary junior clubs would question dipping in to LoI. Geographically its just in a good wide catchememt spot and also has a significant urban population immediately around the club. There's (an ever disappearing) heritage too. Its a shame, as it'd add to regional balance with a support that already exists.
Dennis Lukens? Is he still about. So Doublin County, with staff and players signed were beaten to league membership by Treaty and he is now part of Limerick FC? Well thats soap opera stuff. Was he Irish Sea FC too, and didnt he try to get involved with Athlone? I wouldnt be surprised if he was sniffing around Dundalk which considering who were successful in buying the club.....
Maybe Im beng too judgemental on a chap I know little about bar odd situations with that Ukrainian club and how he could have a staff and players at a club that hadnt secured a home ground....Dublin County FC, some might wonder why the ... impatience... with county models, maybe this was the start and id forgetton over time. Even Dublin City FC made some sort of sense and relegated Shamrock Rovers in their short existance.
