Delighted Luke is staying in the premier division and not heading up the M1. The lad gives 100% all of the time and hopefully gets the minutes he's after.

We have added Ethan O'Brien to our midfield ranks who has decent experience at lower level in US but also made a couple of MLS squads. He's the type of player we need but whether he's any use remains to be seen. Owen Lambe signed last season with similar experience and that has worked out very well for us so hopefully Ethan follows in his footsteps.

Yeah, I think so. Brandon Kavanagh too. Like the other Pats supporters who've commented here, I'm not overly excited at the signing of Max Mata. We have a bit of a knack of signing "Name" strikers who don't live up to the billing (all the way back to Marcus Hallows). Hopefully we are wrong and he bangs the goals in. We'll see. Oh for a prime Christy Fagan.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Looking at Mata’s goalscoring record elsewhere in his career , he had a decent enough strike rate in his first spell at Sligo but had a poor enough return at the other clubs he’s played for , so yeah I wouldn’t be too excited either but we’ll see .

Ben Doherty was modelling at the new kit launch in Derry yesterday, so maybe we can assume he isn't away to Bohs.

Always thought Mata was slightly over hyped. Scored a lot of goals against the weaker sides before his move. In saying that, he's decent at dropping in and bringing others into play, perhaps himself and Keena could be a dream partnership

Galway signed Matty Wolfe. Not a great sign when Sligo are signing one of your best players and you're bringing in a lad who wasn't good enough for them.

Is he tall? First condition on JCs recruitment instructions, doesnt matter whether he has no feet.

Mata and Keenan played together at Sligo not that long ago so think the pairing will thrive!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

You must be tiny if you think Conor McCormack is tall

Hearing Ronan Boyce has turned down a new deal, and is away to Pat's. Was also offered a contract from Bohs.
I've be sorry to see him go. Not irreplaceable, but he's been solid with us for the past five years and played most games. Would be a good signing for Pat's.
That said, defence has been our biggest issue, so can't complain with things being freshened up.

To be fair, CMC isn't usually on the end of high hopeful balls, launched indiscriminately upfield. JC will need someone beanpole-like for it to become an effective tactic though. Hickey was the only reason it worked as well as it did (or at all).

Athlone Town sign midfielder Brian McManus formerly of Shels and Bohs, most recently of UCD.

He didn't get a lot of game time, started the first home game and made a blunder that lead to a goal, never came back from that really, don't think Galway will be challenging due Europe this year.

They've paid Rovers 50k for him too. Big investment from the the owners.
