Had a feeling this would become relevant to the game. If that game was played on a proper football pitch the ball probably spins towards the bray player after bouncing, which may have resulted in a goal. The ball stopping dead in the few inches of muck probably gave the Waterford defender that slight bit of extra time to get the block in. Fine margins and we’ll never know for sure what would’ve happened but my god that game really should’ve been played in Tallaght last night

Why was the game not played in either RSC or Carlisle as done in the past?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

The Playoff final’s been held in a neutral venue since 2020 when it became a one off game rather than 2 legs. Might be worth putting it in the home ground of the First Division club going forward though, as they’ve earned their place in the final by advancing through 2 previous rounds, while the Premier Division club are only playing in it as a result of a poor season

I understood why they changed it to one leg final during covid, but not why they kept it that way since. The final between the premier and first division side used to be always 2 legs and they were brilliant. They should make the games between the first division sides one leg then have the final be 2 legs, that way whoever truly deserves to win it will show it over 2 legs and can be no excuses of not performing in a one off game. It would also mean no worries of a neutral venue. I think fans would prefer to see their own teams play at home in a tie like that anyway

Many different opinions on this. I wouldn't disagree with one legged games between sides who've already played each other 4 times, with higher league ranking rewarded with home advantage. Two legged final then.

    A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined.
First Division 2014: 7 first teams and a B team.
Opportunity lost for new clubs to join GLITW.

Best Game for Shamrocks, Fai Cup Final win confirming the double!

Worst Game for Cork loosing the FAI Cup Final or the league game that confirmed their relegation mathematically!

Tallaght wasn't available. When you host a European game, the ground needs to be available for 24 hours after the game in case the game isn't played in full, called off etc and they need to play it the next day

Inchicore or Dalymount then. The pitch was clearly in bits from the youth game there 2 days beforehand. Even the sideline was ridiculous.

Never knew that. Would SDCC charge for two day's rent then? Or three if the away team have to be allowed in the evening before the game too

Dalymount with its mini mountains in the goal mouths shouldn't be hosting big games either. Tolka was a poor venue, especially from a TV perspective.

Inchicore made most sense assuming it was available. Cant argue that it was closer to Bray when its closer to Waterford too.

Do Bohs go out and spend on a pitch when its to be dug up some time in the next 25 years?
