    Wexford FC v Treaty

Overall flat performance by Wexford tonight where they found it difficult to test Corey Chambers in the Treaty goal and which meant that the home side never threatened to secure the three points to grab the final play-off place. With Mikie Rowe still suspended and badly missed, Wexford started with Paul, James, Robbie, Dean, Dobbsy, Calum, Conor, Zayd, Ajibola, Evan and Ben. Wexford’s only real chances came right at the start of the game. In the first minute, Aji Oluwabiyi was sent free down Wexford’s left, but his shot was lifted over the Treaty crossbar. Three minutes later, Wexford’s Ben McCormack tried a delicate chip from about eighteen yards out, but it also went over the Treaty crossbar. After that, however, Wexford found it hard to break down a resolute Treaty defence and Wexford’s goose was cooked long before the end. Treaty also came more and more into the game as the half progressed and notably won a number of corners which, on occasions, the Wexford defence found hard to clear. With five minutes to go in the half, Wexford’s Calum Flynn had a lofted shot from a tight angle from Wexford’s left wing but Chambers in the Treaty goal was able to grab it comfortably. 0-0 at halftime.

Wexford did have the ball in the Treaty net twice in the second half, but both were disallowed with the first being ruled out for a foul and the second for offside against Dean Larkin. In addition, Wexford introduced Kaylem Harnett at the beginning of the second period. Treaty edged in front early on as Dixie Ferry profited from a parry by Paul Martin in the Wexford goal to put his side ahead. 1-0 to Treaty. It was 2-0 to Treaty midway through the half as Mark Byrne converted a cross from Treaty’s right. Wexford never created a threat from then on and Treaty enjoyed a pretty serene journey after their second goal until the final whistle to leave the away side with the coveted final play-off place. Crowd was a healthy 1,206.
