Pats were good tonight, more the kind of SK stamp. It was pretty well closed out 2nd half bar that almost attempt by Burke, would have been pure class if it hadnt drifted wide. A lot of work to do by Pats to have any hope of Europe still, games in hand are a fools points. That Galway Waterford last day safety clash still looking very possible. Galway have rediscovered that awkward hard to beat nature, form at the right time even if they do end up in the play-off. Sligo I kind of expected to get a resul tonight so not on as solid a ru as maybe thought. Waterford are still the ones that are fighting to break out of a rut and the only ones that you could see getting a shock in a play-off. GD making a significant difference this season, leaves Waterford very uncomfortable and makes Rovers not have to be too bothered by any results in the run in - about as relaxed as you can get when playing 2nd spot to potentially leave only 3 in it.

Five wins in a row to finish the season for LTFC. Been a while since we did that. A word of sympathy for the Athlone commentator who made a good attempt at sounding like he didn't want to jump off the stand. Must have been a long old season for him.
Went up to Saratoga, where my horse naturally won.

Pats were good but we were awful. Still probably had the better clear cut chances particularly in the second half, albeit pats dominated most of it, just couldn't get on the end of things. Anang made a wonder save and Gaffney should have scored. We are doing our best to win the league by gd and keep bohs sweating on our cup final. We are a shadow of ourselves without Honohan, Grant, Pico and Grace though so a lot depends on them coming back. Grace came on tonight but it was probably rushed. Europe will be a slog.

Ahhh poor things! all those games travelling to interesting places while clubs making money

Was thinking earlier about Lopes (and Anang?) being away for maybe 6 weeks during WC next Summer. There will be a break of some sorts but not the full time players could be away. Need to find a 2nd squad player that will be called up just to see how the FAI manage manage, refixtures and with a good chace of Euopean groups for Rovers. Season could be exta front weighted. Slow starts title challenges and trying to avoid relegation can be undone early. Could benefit clubs that miss out on Europe over the next couple of weeks in the longer run. Bohs will really not want to miss out financially, Drogs and Shels to a lesser extent maybe but St Pats could carry missing out and take an advantage in a title tilt. Big quads and costly signings will be needed which will squeeze us relegation fodder, 10th wont hang in as long as Cork managed this season.

Agree, Bohs had all the possession and created nothing. That lack of creativity up top is what will cost us the European place. What's the story with DJT? In the printed preview it said Bohs had a full strength squad to choose from

Terrible end of league for Kerry. 8 league games without a win. The first 2 of 8 were creditable draws against Dundalk and Cobh. 6 league games without a win since the Mounthawk Miracle of knocking out Sligo Rovers.
I think Longford made an FAI Cup semi final early in their LoI existence. Treaty, though different due to being a continuation of Limerick really, made an FAI Cup semi final as well. As a supporter of another club alluded to after the Mounthawk Miracle - it could be the result to have supporters hooked but locked in for years of hope and misery.
"Ah father, it's terrible, terrible!" Dreadful end of season.

Great win for us last night. Didn't see that coming. Bohs were atrocious though. 3 of their 13 wins have been against rovers, but in a Jeckyll-Hyde year for them they've now lost more than they've won this season. Those two key men, Hickey and Hurley, we'd be in a lot of trouble without them. Hickey's injury during the summer really set us back as much as losing Dyer. Great crowd again, and last night's results for Sligo and Waterford couldn't have gone better for us. We have it in our own control with Waterford still to play, and a better GD than our two relegation threatened compatriots. Special mention to Stephen Walsh. 369 appearances, club record. 60 or so goals doesn't sound like a great return, but quite a lot of them were important goals for us at key times.

Finding form just in time after whats been a fairly mixed season down there. I saw a little bit of the Wexford match and they had no answer to Treaty. Does Barrett stick around next year or will it depend on the playoffs?

I'm going to have to stop you there. Total clean break from the previous entity with new people involved and had to deal with the after effects of the damage done by the previous entity. Men's and women's senior teams working off a shoestring until 2024, it's not like Limerick folded and started again under a new name.

A brilliant job by Tommy Barrett to get the play offs with that group of players. Supporters will still want his head after they got out of the play offs no doubt

Yeah, he's very young. Played the Youth League games last year which was a great experience. And had played a couple of league games too given the playoffs were confirmed a few games ago. But Dara is a loss for us I think

I would dispute the claim that rovers had the more clear cut chances, though Gaffney really should have scored with his free header. On the other hand Pats had a number of equally clear cut chances, Melia, McCelland and Leavy all missed really good chances. (as an aside I was fully expecting Annang to get a red card when he came charging out to close down Noonan, but in fairness to him he timed his tackle impeccably.

I'm not sure how motivated Rovers really were, there seemed to be an element of laxity about their play, until the last 20 minutes when we sat back a little and they pushed for an equaliser. We probably deserved the win on the first half performance. Bohs on Monday a huge game. Our record is so poor in Dublin derbies this year, and also in away matches, it's hard to be too optimistic. We'll certainly need the same intensity we showed last night.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Continuation of football in Limerick. Continuation of supporters. Continuation of stadium in use. Continuation of manager. Completely different to Longford joining the league and Kerry either.

Yep,most of the fans want him gone, some of those wont express it out loud ,he,s there too long ,the football is poor,is quite happy to have zero ambition and has his interviews well rehearsed with a litany of the same excuses he throws out for ..what is now ..years.Good first season however its been all going nowhere since. In terms of this set of players in a 10 team league compared to who.......he has won only 13 games...has received a higher budget each season, this season finished miles off teams above them, no tangible progress being made.

I was wondering would someone call that out. It's fair Tony. I'd forgotten about the Melia one in the first half in particular. Probably even on chances overall although Anang made the best save. No idea how he got to Gaffneys volley. You were the better team, no question. We had spells, particularly after the subs but you made us look very average at times. Weird game. We were sloppy but also played some lovely stuff here and there as did pats. Melia is great to watch. Possibly should have seen red for an elbow though. Shows he can handle himself I suppose.

Not sure if it's a lack of motivation or just playing things safe. Probably a case of holding back a bit for Europe. We can't afford another injury really. If Burke, Healy or Watts got hurt that'd be the end of any hopes of 7 points. It's going to be hard as is without Grant and maybe Josh. The wingbacks on show on Friday just aren't up to it at all. Shame we can't call on the youngsters right now. There's also an unavoidable sense that the job is done in the league. I don't like it myself, takes a bit of the buzz out of these final game when they should all be crackers.

Not sure what to make of Pats and Bohs tbh. Bohs look great against us sometimes and Devoy is quality but Pats have the better squad imop. Big fan of Redmond as a captain.

Anyway you're very welcome to the 3 points if you can keep them out of the European spots.
