Michael Duffy deserved that winner. Superb performance from him.
I thought we deserved a draw out if that.
I couldn't believe the lack of urgency from Derry esp in the first half when there is still a lot to play for them. Even the commentators on LOI were chatting away like they were in the pub, talking about documentaries at one stage.
Got to hand it to Longford ,on a great run of form and deserved their victory today, the second goal an excellent example of how to counter attack.Treaty doing what they always done under this manager...huff and puff but no direction, no plan,no football, its dire stuff .Have been limping over the line in terms of the playoffs for a while now ,could very well make it but do not deserve to and if people looked really closely they will realise this manager has been an utter failure .....leave Tommy ...please.
Loved that second goal of ours. Perfect counter attack.
Went up to Saratoga, where my horse naturally won.
Just keep that form in to next week, not too much to ask!!
We've been like that most of the season.
Couldn't have argued with a draw last night. Thought Sligo did a great job of controlling the game and minimising our play, especially in the first half.
Duffy was great all game though, he's been carrying us really.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but it'd be hard to see us finishing outside the European spots now.
Sligo might just get dragged back into that playoff spot. They're a better side than that though, and you'd finish them in the playoff anyway.
We do not want a playoff with our record against first division teams
Great battle now between Treaty, Wexford & Longford for the final first division play-off spot. Longford have found a bit of form with some good results recently, Treaty seem to be struggling for a win while Wexford have no consisitency with their form!
That's Drogheda's chance of finishing in the Top 4 (and a likely European place) gone.
Don't create many chances, but when we do, the finishing by the likes of Davis, Thomas, Oluwa and Kareem has been atrocious. (A pity, because Davis and Thomas in particular looked sharp at various times during the season). Need to improve in this area to 'kick on' next year.
There's a few head to heads in the top 4 or 5 yet for Drogheda to still nick a spot. Its nip and tuck everywhere bar for the champions elect!
It could also be argued that James McManus should have been sent off before smart management came in to play from John Russell.
The professional foul in the first half where he grabbed hold of Duffy and dragged him back and then in the second half where he made the foul that the ref allowed play to continue before I think it was Duffy that was chopped down seconds later by Agbaje who was booked.
Sligo played some decent football early on but we arguably had good chances to win the game. We seemed to over play and try and walk the ball into the net at times.
There isnt much between many of the sides in this league. Yesterday we basically had Duffy who was the stand out difference maker.
