I don't know if you're baiting or not but the Rovers job is not the biggest job anymore.

Oh what a surprise. Yet another foot.ie thread goes off-topic and heads in the direction of another "I hate they way Rovers fans think they're great" discussion. Just mention the word 'examinership' once and you can turn a debate about whether you think Cork or Derry are going to win the league into an arguement about those jammy Hoops who got let off the hook. To say it's getting a little boring and predictable at this stage would be a gross understatement

well it started going off topic by a rovers fan saying very sarcasticly (surely) that the rovers job was collin's biggest job to date.

so look in-house for the reasons that this one has gone off-topic

NY Hoop posted something that was well within the context of the thread topic. The only problem is is that he happened to pass a remark that alot of people seemed to get a liitle bit tetchy about. The point I'm trying to make is that this seems to be happening all to often on this forum these days, most annoyingly of all at the expense of an interesting discussion about something different altogether. It used to be just Bohs fans that were obsessed with us and had difficulty coming to terms with their somewhat understandable inferiority complex, now its everywhere!

ok not sarcastic. unfortunetly for anyone not biased by a club loyalty it seems a ridiculous statement considering his previous jobs at bohs and carlisle. in fact the only job smaller than his current one, was with dublin city, so that is not exactly saying much for the level of his current job

no i think its more to do with previously/historically 'big' clubs having this superiority thing about them. we've already had a bohs fan today talking about everyone's 'fetish' about them becuase people were talking about a goal they conceaded.

now we have rovers fans up in arms because people laugh at their notion that the rovers job is the biggest in the country. if its funny, then people will laugh.

But that's just the thing. I'm saying that as an EL fan first. Any reasonable person (and this is the wrong forum for reason!) would acknowledge that the Rovers fan is the biggest job in domestic football. In the broader context of things his 4 previous jobs were with smaller clubs. No offense but that is a fact.

Eh, if you're talking about Bohs, they were never a big club (big pub, perhaps)

People don't seem to be laughing at it, though. They are getting a bit irritable about it, however. Maybe because, deep down, they know it to be true. If we all want to laugh at something then just take a look at the post that Bohdiddley just left on the thread about that Waterford goal

i know i shouldn't get drawn in, but what the hell. it is not fact, it is wrong. the biggest job in domestic football would be either cork or shels - why becasue they are the current biggest clubs. your history may be excellent, but unfortunately that means nothing.

you are hardly stupid enough to say that in england that the nottingham forest job is bigger than the chelsea job. but it appears you seem to be using such ridiculous logic here.

    how are rovers the biggest:

support - no 900 at your game at the weekend (per attendance thread) certainly discounts that.
ground - well there is no point in even talking about this one
finances - again no point in even mentioning this
performance - barely mid table (if we add back the 8 points as they were won by the players on merit)
recent trophies - about as much as us (i.e. none)

sorry, but take away your irrational bias and you'd realise, your not a big job any more.

The above statement would preclude you from any conversation.

Did I not just say as an EL fan first.........

BTW our finances are just fine right now. How are yours?

no point in going way way further off topic by going into tax/creditors write offs etc. (no arguement with the other points i see ) our money is neither here nor there - the drogs job is not (yet!) the biggest domestic job, and nobody is trying to claim it is.

you said as an eL fan first, but i imagine a single (non-rovers) eL fan in their right mind who would consider that rovers job as the biggest domestic job.

but it doesn't look like your going to change your mind, and neither am i, so i'll leave it here.

Yeah, a cash-strapped, relegation-threatened team with no ground, no recent trophies, and few fans. You're so not living in the past there, NY Hoop. Been a while since you've been home, has it?

    Am home

BTW we're in better shape than you lot. Not cash strapped (dont mind Roddy), will be staying up (not long ago you played Cobh), ground coming soon and of course more fans than you. That's all the present and all true.

ColinR: "Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level then beat you with experience." That's why I'm not arguing with you on any points...

Now now, lets not get carried away after a few short weeks of living by the laws of the land. When you have paid your taxes up to date and turned a trading profit for 4 years in a row maybe you can be considered for that title. Meanwhile, it surely still belongs to the fiscally prudent club who took 7 points off you lot this season!!

So let's see, the logic of the Rovers fans' argument seems to run like this: if I say p, and p irritates people, that means p must be true. Hhhmmmnnn.... Watertight, alright.
