Great advert for the league. Bohs 1 up, Derry 1-1, Derry 1-2 , Bohs 2-2 , then they had three opportunities to clear the ball tried to play out and got caught, Derry 2-3, Bohs 3-3 got caught again trying to play out Derry 3-4, Bohs pushed hard, Maher several great saves, Derry had a man sent off. This game had it all
Brilliant game. Bohs were great going forwards in the second half, but what a mess at the back. Derry were generally poor, but the keeper, Duffy and some very special Bohemian defending kept them going. Very messy, very entertaining.
Buck mad game of football, nerves are shot after it. Massive win, which was achieved in spite of Rob Hennessey.
Thought we'd be done after the early penalty, same as the last time in Dalymount with the same ref. Both penalties were dodgy, but there's a pattern.
Cracking finish by Duffy for the equaliser.
Scramble in the box and a howler from Chorazka for the second. Not given by Hennessey, but the linesman.
We should have had a penalty for handball just before half time, right in front of Hennessey too.
Second half, we changed shape, and I don't think it helped up. Gaps started appearing and it was those gaps that allowed Bohs in for their second.
Back up the pitch, and immediately O'Reilly scores from some decent passing, and non-existent Bohs defending. Reynolds would be fuming at that one.
Three minutes later, Bohs back level from a free and a scramble.
Few minutes later, Dipo with a class header for our fourth. He had a brilliant game, and he can really get power off his head.
Soon after, Boyce makes a challenge, wins the ball, but Hennessey gives a second yellow and a red, same as the last time we were in Dalymount.
Would love to see the stats for the number of saves Maher made in those last 15 minutes. Incredible stuff, I'd give him MOTM, depsite conceding three goals. Bohs will be wondering, along with ourselves, how they didn't score.
Bonkers game, great ad for the League.
I've mentioned Hennessey before, and our big drop in win ratio when he's in charge. I cannot believe him to be biased, but I find myself challenged by his consistently poor decision making that negatively affects us. Baffled by it.
New stats for tonight, no referee has sent off more Derry City players than him. His rate of red cards against us is double our average. I don't know why.
We need full time refs in this league. Yes, we'll need to pay for it, but it'll be worth it.
Incredible game.
Maybe not one for the football purists, but certainly a good game if you enjoy a bit of "Rob-Hennessy-reffing-a-Derry-match-bingo." Had it all.
I had no investment in the game myself, but after watching the highlights I'm happy Bohs lost for the sole reason that co-commentator was shocking. I don't care that they're volunteers, it's embarrassing
That’s Dave Scully, lovely bloke but yeah, commentary not his strong point!!
Played for us too, in the dark days after we went almost out of football, and despite not being a great, gave his all every week.
He might be a legend as a player but he's doing no favours for ye now with that sh1te he spouts on air these last few seasons. I badly hope the FAI or whoever is over LOITV takes the hammer to the clubs and tell them to cop on with bias commentary, it's such a bad look. And again, being a volunteer does not excuse it
Instead of two volunteers commentating, maybe they should have two extra cameras instead
The FAI did have a word with clubs about biased commentary before this season, far as I know.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Ah now, I love the biased commentary. I genuinely think it adds a great deal.
I don't think Scully is a good commentator, at all really. I do find myself irritated at commentary on Bohs away games sometimes but at the same time that's sort of what an away game is. You're in someone else's place. You win and it's glorious, you lose and it's horrible because you're surrounded by all those celebratory sounds. You get a feel for the general mood at a club on away day when you're on their patch. You might overhear the odd home conversation when you're walking to and from the ground etc.
That's how I take the streams. It's not full TV production. It's not the same as going to the match but you still get a feel for the general mood of the club. So I don't mind the bias, ultimately I probably like it, even if I get wound up the odd time temporarily.
