Wexford upped their game at the start of the second half and Tuomi in the Treaty goal made an excellent reflex save to keep out Rossi’s effort from close in. Tuomi was called into action again soon afterwards when she kept out Ellen Molloy’s effort with a decent but expected save. Treaty then went close themselves with a one-on-one against O’Sullivan which was prodded wide of the Wexford post and then Lawlee forced O’Sullivan to push away another goal-bound effort. With the massive All-Island Cup Final against Bohs next week, it surely is a matter of concern that Wexford didn’t really trouble Tuomi again until ten minutes before full-time, when sub Charlotte Cromack drifted between two Treaty defenders and cracked a left-footed effort against the corner of the Treaty goal-frame. Late subs for Wexford were Anna Doane, Leah McGrath and Meabh Russell and Treaty held out for a well-celebrated 1-0 victory. Wexford’s back five were particularly solid with Della Doherty and Lauren Dwyer outstanding, but going forward appears to remain problematic with the cup final in mind.
