Centre-back who moved from UCD in the summer was named on the bench alongside John Egan for their season opener against Coventry today. Big jump from LoI First Division to the Championship - surprised to see him straight on the bench to be honest. Might be one to keep an eye on in the coming months.

Started alongside John Egan today in a 3-0 defeat to Blackburn. Hadn't expected him to be remotely near the first team this early (High Parker is still with the underage team).

Cathal McCarthy, who turns 19 at the end of the month, made his senior debut today, for Hull City's home game v Blackburn Rovers. He partnered veteran John Egan in the defence, but it was not a good day for them, losing 0-3.
