One can only hope that last Friday's late, late Cup show can spark a League revival beginning tonight, particularly when the Students failed to make the grade in Ballybofey. The bench may well be somewhat lighter on this occasion, with Oran Crowe, Tim Heimer and Nathan Gleeson all out for a few weeks, while Luke Palmer's injury also keeps him absent tonight. That said, other than in the Cup tie, UCD have been in excellent form lately, defeating Harps, Longford and Bray, so will be travelling to Tralee in expectation of a full points return. It certainly seemed as though our side had better balance once the changes were made last week, so Kennedy, Sean O'Connell and Joe Adams may very well feature in the starting XI this week.
Game ended as a contest with the red card, disappointingly we seemed to accept our faith and never put up a fight really and well outclassed in the end.
Healy needs to find a system players are comfortable with - not sure what the answer is, but incredibly we are only 6 points off 6th place so plenty to fight for if things can be turned around. I’m trying to find positives!!!
A return to a back 4 is possibly on the cards with Brookwell out - we are conceding loads anyway with a back 5 so at least we might be more creative and get players like Dan back in more natural position.
Hopefully Brookwell suspension is only 2 games and not 3 - be back for cup game then.
You could write the script after the sending off. The place was flat as were the players. It's so easy score against us. Its going to be very hard to win any game. This new left full might improve things with a few games under his belt but the discipline is another problem. Healy defended Palmer getting sent off in his last game but he goes and does it again. Needs to learn fast.
The poor attendance was another low point.
Things can only get better I guess.
