Derry's to lose! Their unbeaten run in started tonght!!

Dundalk are under pressure again, a win Monday and there really is some mettle in those kids but I just keep expecting that bad loss to happen and for things to crumble. If it doesnt happen it will be as impressive as some titles and better than previous promotion. We really dont want a play-off!! Unless its against Waterford

Harps left the win behind in Athlone, home team were god awful and deserved to lose,we didn’t make them pay though between hitting the woodwork and dreadful finishing….

Strange game in the Bowl. On general balance of play it was even enough - except we are really toothless up front, and Cobh scored their first three real chances (and then hit the post and forced a great double save)

Two, maybe three injuries in the first half for us too (plus a torn ball, which I've never seen before) all adding up to a pretty crappy night's work

Yeah looked pretty clear cut alright but even if Pats hadve scored a penalty to make it 3-2 they’d no doubt have found another way to shoot themselves in the foot again. Some absolutely horrendous defending that’s getting worse by the week and you won’t win any games of football with that schoolboy stuff at the back. Evan Watts in goal for Galway looks a great young keeper, made 4 or 5 good saves tonight and he’s got a great length on his kickouts as we saw with the first goal while the Pats defence were asleep

Just saw the second goal by Galway, what in the name of Jesus is the Pats keeper playing at, does he fancy himself as a left back now, or a GAA modern GK going forward?

Plus he did something similar a few months ago I recall, that is just nuts and more so how Kenny is still picking him.

Some finish to be fair by Hurley from inside his own half, still had to get it on target even w/o the absent GK.

Poor performance from Bohs there last night. If young Brennan's decision making was better he could have had a goal or two but that type of decision making comes with time and experience so hopefully he has learned from that. The passing out of the back was shocking, over hit all night and it's not like there was no space to run into or hit the ball into. It's clear part of the game plan was to try to get the wingers running into space with the long balls, the few times the ball wasn't over hit it caused problems but those times were far too few. As others have said Kavanagh in particular was awful and responsible for both goals. The mistakes he's making it almost seems like he's never played the position before. The peno being a great example. There was little to no danger but he tried to barge through the back of the attacker? It just makes no sense. I reckon Cian Byrne will win back his spot in no time once he returns in July. Either that or we will see another CB. Roll on Monday I think Meekison and Clarke starting will make a big difference going forward. If we can sort the silly mistakes in defence it could be a good game.

Goal of the season has been scored. I cant see many better than that Duffy banger.

We probably shaded the game on reflection and created a decent chance for Liam Boyce to slot home only for his touch to close his own angle and make it difficult for him to lob dink it over Kearns.

We played some really nice football at times without actually doing much with it. I did think Shels where unbelievably poor though and didnt really lay much of a glove on us.

3 points and a win in Dublin made the trip home for a change alot easier.

Thought Shels approach to the game was unusual in that they seemed content to allow us to have plenty of the ball, especially in the first half. Made a boring spectacle really.

Some strike by Duffy for the goal, who was just about onside, watching it back. Diallo had a good game, nice to see him back.
For Shels, Ali Coote was the only highlight. He did great when he came on, and caused us trouble, whilst drawing a few yellow card books out of us. Feels like he should be starting for Shels.

I said beforehand, I'd take two points from this weekend in Dublin, so we're already into bonus territory.

A very competitive league this year ,with everyone capable of beating each other.
Rovers consistency and ability to keep everyone fit at present, means they are ahead of the rest.
An entertaining game awaits in Monday night now, regardless of the result.

He has his critics but Duffs post match interview was good, a refreshing and frank assessment of the performance and season even. The comment on 2 or 3 game in a week not an excuse with full time pros and a squad I agree with. It was a different kind of complaining from him last night. He obviously feels that there is an issue with the squad, which is his, and is also taking responsibility but feels the layers are shirking theirs. He let players go for their off field chicken roll habits and sound like he thinks more are not buying in to his level of expectation. Derry were competent and it was enough, still favourites!

Delighted with the win after chucking 2 bad points away in Longford last week, the pitch at the Bowl is a massive improvement on earlier in the season but just curious if they watered the pitch or not? It might account for the injuries as it looked quite hard.

He admittedly had a shocker last night and vs Rovers, but Anang is otherwise the least of our problems and has been fantastic this season. Earlier in the year when we were picking up results he was our best player, which didn't say much for the team as a whole.

Funny game last night really. Galway got a couple of mad goals, their keeper had a blinder of a game and we were probably robbed of a penalty, but still and all I struggle to feel hard done by with how we're playing.

I think the LOITV commentator summed up the Sligo Rovers performance pretty well last night: ... "The most complete performance from a team that is going to lose a game that I have seen in a long long time".

Good to be playing well but moral victories no good at this stage of a season.

The results last night bunched up the table once again just as it seemed Galway and Waterford might be left behind in any mid table battle.

2-8 will hopefully continue to be a bunched group for another month or two yet.

It looks for now at least the Sligo are definitely a better team than Cork and should pick up enough points over the course of the season to finish 9th.

The routine win that the bookies had it at but nice to get it done before the main event on Monday. Bohs will be kicking themselves as now even a win Monday for them just has the weekend as a tie when they would have been hoping to make up ground. We should beat bohs Monday but the same could have been said before the last two games.
I have one of the golden tickets and hopefully will be celebrating a league win on Monday....
