Fans looking for change , only someone like Anthony Elding would have a chance of turning this around.. many would be very happy with Elding as boss.. Will have to wait to see if a positive decision will be made, or if the board are happy for LTFC to sleepwalk into 3rd division! Sad but true unfortunately
Anthony Elding? Didn’t know he had any coaching experience does he? He’s a name I haven’t heard of in years

I've no skin in the game in relation to Longford, but some of the discussion seems rather hyperbolic when you're level with Harps, and in a better financial position than Athlone. That's not to say there's cause for celebration either, but mid-table certainly isn't out of reach for you, when UCD haven't been pulling away from the clubs in the lower half.

Nice to have a little banter when discussing such serious, pressing matters 🍍 ... culloty, hyperbolic is an excellent word to use yer dead right! Longford fans don't want to be next nor near the likes of Finn Harps, Athlone Town or UCD but maybe that's just our level and I'm being ridiculous wanting more

No harm at all to want more. Football is about dreaming and optimism. Expecting more isn't realistic though without a significant injection of cash from somewhere which brings its own risks.

This is interesting. What money was around back then?? There was a change of chairman/committee and a new top manager and the rest is history.

We hear a lot about the facilities etc. This was all planned and started by this old committee , they deserve the credit. It like the politicians trying to take credit for Greyhound Stadium- nonsense! We were demoted in 07 due to mismanagement behind the scenes let's not forget.. surely there must be someone else around that has inherited their wealth and political connections that might be interested in leading the Town forward, the current social club is going nowhere!

The points deduction in 2007 was because our accounts weren't submitted on time. That was because our external auditor (another Dub!) was having a personal crisis and was uncontactable. You could argue we shouldn't have been sailing that close to the wind in terms of allowing enough time but that had been the process in the previous years and timelines were met. There was no issue with the accounts once submitted, and everything else was in place. From what I hear around the town the current chairman would be happy to step aside but he's owed several hundreds of thousands of euros, at a minimum, in loans to the club at this point. I don't think there are any other major creditors at this stage though, which is good.

A loan? Well i hope he's jot expecting to get his money back. If he is he may write it off as bad debt

I imagine the only way he'd expect to get anything is if someone buys the club for a large amount of money which is extremely unlikely. But there certainly used to be a large amount of money owing to him legally speaking and he has or certainly had that registered as a formal legal charge. But as I said he's never going to take any action to actually enforce it against the club. I haven't checked the company records in a long time, things may have changed in recent years.

Are the records publicly available or just private to certain peoples?

You can go to the companies office website. You can check the accounts and other public filings for any company for a few quid.
