This football lark is just great. You just turn up for 90 minutes and you’ll eventually score a winner. No need to worry as the clock runs down,as you can be sure a goal is coming no matter how late it is in the game.

Although it was a 0-1 to Bohs they could have won by more or just as easily drawn or lost. The missed penalty was a big factor. Although the pitch looked great I thought the ball bobbled about a lot. Bohs were worthy winners. Three points on the road and a clean sheet. Just brilliant!

Great win by the Rams in Wexford on Friday. Wexford were very impressive when they beat Cobh 3-1 earlier in the season but were a shadow of that team on Friday. Dundalk/Bray 2-2 draw sets up the top of the table clash now next Friday in Cobh. Expecting about 1500+ attendance.

Thought one of the most unusual stories of the weekend was the almost rudeness by Kenny in the post match interview Shels v Pats, he is better than that and should be treating interviews with better respect, even his facial expression was wrong, like a guy in the pub challenging you. He needs to seriously improve his media, but that was same at DFC and Ireland, seems he not taking it onboard.

Getting very tight at the top, Derry all of a sudden getting to 2nd, and Bohs moving 4th, a place they would only have dreamed of last month.
Haven’t seen Kennys post match interview. What did he say ?
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

I looked at the Kenny interview expecting a car crash. Thought it was ok tbh.
Suggested that it was poor form to play on with Forrester injured, but still said Pats should have been better. Can't expect Kenny to be doing cartwheels after losing to a late goal.

I think anything other than a Bohs win would have been a bit of a snatch and grab win for Sligo. They had the peno early on but outside of that they had no real chances of note. They played well for the first 20-25 mins and then really fell off (Shades of Bohs under Devine if I'm being honest). Devoy and Rooney both had good chances to put Bohs ahaead before and after the break, I thought Seargant in goals for Sligo played really well and took off some very important saves but it just felt like the goal was coming even if Bohs weren't on this freaky run of late winners. Credit to Moose on the goal as well. It was a bit of a hit and hope ball from midfield that the defence failed to deal with and he took advantage like good players will. Hopefully the injuries are behind him now and he can work on getting fit for a full 90 because I think with him and Whelan pushing each other for minutes one of them will start putting away goals more regularly.

We are so far off where we should be with the squad we have - awful stuff so farm bar flashes of 5-10 minutes here and there. Poor attitude on some players, not enough work, and mentally brittle, and teams know that now.
. Another year written off i fear. Rovers are going to eventually walk the league.

SHHHHHH keep that to yourself around here.

You know how this works. Once Derry start getting mentioned as potential winners/contenders we fall to pieces.

Lets just continue not to be mentioned and go under the radar for a bit longer.

IS there a club in the division that feels they are happy?
Drogs probably still but anyone else?
We are top and i reckon are underachieving and should be 6 or 7 clear and need it with Europe coming up especially with Champions elect Derry not in Europe

I don’t mind SK in general but he’s chatting absolute twaddle there,I’d be very unhappy if my team put the ball out in the situation he’s talking about….

I understand hes doing this to distract from the less than fantastic run of form pats have been on but its very ironic that hes compaining about sportsmanship when his Dundalk teams were masters of the dark arts and just this season vs Bohs in Dalymount the time wasting from pats was beyond belief. If I remember correctly Anto Breslins first yellow card was for time wasting at a throw in, in the first half! His second yellow was for crashing into Ross Tierney to stop a counter attack. Both cycnical cards in their own right. The ultimate irony is of course that Bohs won that game in the 97th minute and if Pats didnt waste as much time as they had been doing in the second half there wouldnt have been a 97th minute for Bohs to score in. If sportsmanship is dead Stephen Kenny put at least one of the knives in it.

Also isnt the general guideline now to play to the refs whistle and the ref has the power to stop the game at any point for injury?

Id shoot any player playing for me who stopped before the Refs whistle, 90% of the time the players get up and play on afterwards and it was just an attempt to buy a free or slow the game down.

It was game management!! Couple of years of throwing good positions in Europe away through naivety and that team learned quickly and carried it in to the domestic game. Its infuriating when players feign injry and a pretty new aspect of the game that Im enjoying in general is refs waving away frees when players are rolling around holding a foot and then in total shock and hopping up when the whistle doesnt blow. Players do have a duty of care to their fellow pros and while they cant always get it right they'd have a good idea of what is a serious injury and should put the ball out. One incident stands out last season was Daniel Kelly pulling up with a hamstring on the Derry corner flag and Dummigan playing on but his own players shouting not to be an ass and put the ball out as Kelly was in trouble. It was obvious and different from the 'soft' free con where Id be roaring to play on. Keepers abusing the rules now as the game has to stop is something that needs to change - I dunno what, maybe a fecking time out call but at least it isnt BS of physo and stretching and then not a niggle after. It is absolutely SK deflecting attention from his team, its what he does except now its called out for what it is. Seanie falling over crisp packets was a legitimate complaint where buying penalties was beconing a normal part of the game - if it were one of my players manufacturing penalties from barely half chances would I grumble, nope!

I for one am sick of SK rants. If he spoke out about the amount of clubs that he walked out on I would be more interested. Just move on SK...
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
