The emotional swings of the greatest league in the world!

Thinking of the matches this evening (particularly Bohs in EDP obviously), and I've realised that I'm jaded by the emotional roller coaster of this crazy year, to the extent that I don't feel that I can look forward to any game with a degree of confidence.
With us it's so fragile, given the fact that we've trailed until late in the day against Rovers and Pats, so we're through the ringer each match.

I'd imagine this low level (or maybe higher) is shared by supporters of loads of other teams, possibly with the exception of Drogheda. May be living up greatest league in the world in an unironic way, but it's not great for the heart!

2 days you can really only stay sane in Loi, 1st days of the season and last, hopefully having won the league or at the very least safe. The rest is sadomasochism. Every gets enjoyed retrospectively except for the other occasional game where youve just banjaxed a league rival on one night Then its the business and finance, facilities, european heartache is a guaranteed eventually. GLITW takes everything to the extremes, the pure strange to season where all bar relegation sides are in a league race and 2 points off 2 and chances are being written off. For Dundalk to go and saunter to promotion will be rewarded with an immediate €700k hole in finance to have a ground to play in never mind a team to compete.

As a Pats fan I can also agree with the original post, constant worry and can only enjoy a game at the full time whistle if they’ve won. Just gone back top of the league on Friday and I’m already looking at how bad the damage will be if they lose to Derry and Shels. Without doing too much of the maths on it they could be bottom half by Saturday morning. I think fans of all clubs will continue in this lack of confidence in their team going into games until they string around 4 or 5 consecutive good 90 minute (plus poxy injury time!) performances together which nobody has done as of yet

“I hope we don’t go down”
    “hope we don’t go down”
    “A decent start I suppose”
“Hey, we might have a chance at Europe”
    “I mean, we’re not title challengers . . . are we?”
“Okay, still in with a chance of top four”
“Damn, that’s that gone as well”
“Thank god we didn’t go down, sure we’d have taken that at start of season”

    Annnnnddddd repeat

Is it here we note that struggling Cork and Waterford are leading away to high-flying Drogheda and Shels?

    Because of course they are.

It's a mental season this one

You gotta love it. That ridiculous optimism, shattered by the reality and lets do it all again in a few days!

I wouldn’t say there’s many emotional “swings” with us at the minute, the over riding emotion would be worry really, worry about where we’re going and is the ground ever going to happen and how that affects our future in League of Ireland football…..
Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
