Is that the “when we’re away in the blue” song ? To the tune of “ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”. If so, then I think the “kick the sh1t out of you” is in a footballing sense, and not a threat of violence. That’s the way I always took it anyway, and yes it’s been sung for years, though I haven’t heard it in a while. Pats away strip was always blue btw, as far back as I can remember. Not a fan of the sky blue strip at all.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

My own opinion is that Kerry need an experienced manager. How that is resolved and the make up of the management team can be altered with the budget available - not sure what to expect there to be honest. I don't think Keith Long will be taking on Kerry as his next project!

Men against boys tonight, particularly in second half from Dundalk tonight. Streets ahead of anything else I've seen in first this season.
Are Dundalk, or much of the squad still full time?

Thanks for that info Tony D.

I remember a green Pat's away shirt and a navy and striped away.Thought the sky blue was only over the past few seasons.

Pats deffo had navy away kits for a long time because it always resulted in us having to wear our away kit in Dalymount because for some reason they didn't have a third kit. Granted you often hear navy referred to as Navy blue so that's still a shade of blue I suppose

Mother of god man cheer up, your team just beat Pats at Dalymount for the first time in 3 years, try to enjoy it rather than being offended by a banner depicting the first few lines of a song that’s been sung for decades by Pats fans up and down the country and is nothing related to your club

Sligo (and a fair few moaning posters here) got very upset against Dundalk last year for a banner in a similar vain (that had nothing to do with Sligo) last year.

Some people just love to offended.

So you don't get how the second person writing style works then.

And for the record the main reaction was bemusement.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

I remember that banner 'Dundalk will never die, but you will' (was 6 days and first game after near liquidation), the YOU meant all of us, and we obv will.

Nice comments, but Longford were more than a match for us in the first half, made it very difficult, second half diff story obviously, and could have been 4. FT training should all show, but the lead is still only 3 points, badly need to beat Bray at home in a few weeks time to re-open a big gap.

If something proper gives in the next game between Bray and Cobh (probably a Cobh win) if we win also, then going in to the Bray game with the opportunity to undo their 7 game streak then the psychological advantage swings back nicely. It could happen but Im planning for Bray to win 9 and us to lose our 1st.

I think first half was more a reflection of Dundalk being a bit off it - I got impression they had a right pop at each other at ht, and pulverised us in the second!
Any idea what Dundalk are likely to spend this season - definitey a few premier div players and premier div wages in that team!

I had heard a amount circa 11k pw, and more and less. Its a good 1st Division amount but some of the thinking is to have players that can step up next season if promoted rather than total rerecruitment in a bottomles pit of wages. We are a currently in yoyo club territory.

That would probably be a wages bill, so probably around 800k for the club - and in your case gates of 2000 would give you match day income of over 600k so a very doable 200k to fundraise.

If we go up, gates will move from 2k current to 2.3k or so home fans (maybe 2.5) then add in most games 500 min away fans for half the visits, and its closing in on 3k, I think 2.7k was about the avg recent PD seasons.

One things for sure, we will need to replace half the current squad, and that won't be easy finance wise, but also heard investment will come in, again IF we go up.

To be fair, I'd say 11k per week is probably a combination of two or three other first division budgets put together.
