Shane Supple who was in that Youth Cup winning team is the backup keeper now and he's only turned 18. Billy Clarke and Cathal Lordan are regulars for the reserves so we might see both of them soon as Royle doesn't seem to be afraid to give young players a go. I've heard that Clarke in particular is meant to be quality.

He actually played at least one game this year when Price was injured & Joe Royle singled him out as having had a great game.

Darren Randolph is very highly rated & looks much more like an international 'keeper in terms of height.

But that's my point - there's loads we can keep an eye on but how many are actually that close right now? I'd love to see some more A internationals or U23 games or that kind of stuff.

I don't know about your last prediction but the first team prediction wasn't bad at all.

ok so his team prediction was pretty much right, but was it back to gustavo and mines original point, did we expect too much or perhaps over-enthusiastic at their abilities or just the manager?

Extremely over optimistic but then again we were still in the hunt for qualification for the World Cup back then and the future looked bright.

If only we knew then what we know now.

Disappointed with Elliot. Back then he'd just finished his first season with a promoted Sunderland and had been banging goals in for fun. Doyle had only just arrived at Reading and wasn't even one of their first choice strikers. Strange how things work out.

Yeah I really like Ellliott. I hope he can stay injury free as he could still be a good player for us and maybe even push Doyle for a starting place. So far from what I've seen of the two of them whilst they were playing for Ireland I think Elliott has been the all round better player.
