This season so far has shown plenty of good reasons to have an artificial pitch ... /s

How long will Aidan Keena be out for? If he was playing last night think Pats would ave won!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Job done at the Brandywell, but hard work made of it.
Cork scored with their first real attack, and Maher was partially at fault for not coming out to claim the cross.
Comical Cork defending for our first goal. Two players in a row headed the ball back towards the own net. Good overkick kick from Ronan Boyce to finish it, mind.
Our first goal from play in 703 minutes, and only our third player to score this season.

The introduction of Thomas and Whyte liven us up a fair bit, but it was Duffy, again, who got the second with a decent run off a break. Again, Cork defending could be questioned, and Troost was nutmegged for the finish.

Not a classic, but don't really care. New stand was looking well, though the empty seats left between the away and home supporters in the Southend stand felt unnecessary. Could have squeezed an extra couple of hundred in.

Not sure what to think of Cork. They were decent enough going forward, at times, but not sound defensively. Their fans are not hopeful for this season, but Sligo are looking like they might bail them out of automatic relegation anyway.
Keating will be a loss. Never a good sign when our own physio goes on to help a player as well.

How it passes any test for compliance is beyond me(see the Short highlights package on YouTube.
I love heading there for a match and extremely disappointed, rugby/gaa marking on pitch , not one jot of work done on the surface. Not even rolled , shocking beyond shocking

A game of two halves, we were the better side in first half but Rovers completely controlled the second half and having got the early goal from our keepers mistake didn’t give us a sniff.

Graham Burke usually causes us loads of problems but his passing was completely wayward on Friday. Cian Byrne did a great job for us in closing space on him.

Hopefully we bounce back with a win up in Sligo, a venue we have a shocking record in.

Rovers, I’m still not sure I can see that team going on runs they did in previous years… Then again while not playing well they’ve taken 10 points from last 12 and will gone third if they win their game in hand.

We've seen Dublin derbies called off over a bad penalty spot. How on earth that pitch in UCD is deemed safe is beyond me.

I wouldn't say we are in a false position, when you're bottom of the table it's for good reason. There is still a feeling between the fans that we can get results, even the losses against Waterford, Pats and Shels we could/ should have picked up points.
Bohs will be delighted to get the win but if they couldn't get a win last Friday they never will. Loads of suspensions and Deneham off early. 3 teenage substitutes and we finished with 6 teenagers on the pitch. If we can get our first team on the pitch and Waweru to come in and get a few then we defo have a decent chance of picking up points.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Obviously defensively things seem fairly bad.

At the other end if you’re waiting for Wilson to come back you’re in trouble.

Most teams seem to have at least 2 or 3 starters out injured at the moment throw in all the suspensions to a squad like yours it’s relying on academy players really.

Nah, it really hasn’t. Some of the pitches are not good at the moment, granted, but they will improve over the next few weeks, whereas Oriel and the Brandywell won’t. Impossible to have a good game on those pitches.

Richmond Park was in great nick on Friday btw.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Was just about to post similar, artificial surfaces have improved a lot the last 10 years but still a long, long way coming close to grass surfaces

You look to be having serious injury worries at the minute. Plenty of lads going down with cramp/muscle injuries through the game on Friday night. Is that a regular occurrence for ye this year or was Friday a bit of an anomaly where you had some travel issues during the day, lads stuck on the coach for an extended period of time, had to miss a stop en route or something. I ask because you seem to play a very high tempo style of football and if cramps/muscle injuries happen like that in every match it's going to be a long season.

I only heard rumours of a twinge on his hamstring but nothing official. Afaik its nothing serious like Palmer so hopefully its only a short stint on the sidelines.

I see next weekend's DLR Waves matched has been moved to Carlisle Grounds from Belfield Bowl due to "maintenance".

I think they're relaying the pitch.

Didn't see any of it this weekend. Rovers fans, does Leon keep his place for Waterford? (I assume McGinty's is a 1 game suspension)

Not a regular occurrence. Denham was a big doubt leading up to the game. Ronan Manning probably hasn’t played 60 minutes in a long time so I’d say he just went down as it was his time to be subbed. Wasn’t treated I don’t believe. Just limped off. Conor Reynolds was the longest he’s played all season but was surprised to see him cramping up.

Wilson scored 7 goals for us last season and probably only played about 40% of it. Poor at the start but certainly improved and was a big loss when he got injured.

Linott also went off for you after five minutes of being a sub. Mad night for the injuries/cramp so! Yeah even if thats the longest Reynolds has played he also came on as a sub so it still wasnt the full 90. On the plus side I think you have a top quality player there in Elding. Looks very fast and direct so I wouldnt be surprised to see him off to the UK in the next couple of windows. Thats the type of player they love over there.

Looking like he'll be out for a few months. Not very fun.
