Disagree there, am hearing he was very well looked after.

I know I'm going off topic here but, from what I can gather, and this was from a reliable source Noel O Connor has very little time for Dolan. By all accounts his time with City was a fairly frustrating time dealing with an autocratic and extremely childish Dolan.

Dolan may have recieved something (and all my sources say he didn't) but if truth be told there's only one individual who pocketed a big percentage out of the deal and that was Kevin Doyle himself. I certainly wouldn't begrudge him it anyway though.

I'd seriously doubt it. He's not a registered agent, and while it was not done for the good of his health, I'd say there was a certain amount of self-satisfaction in it that 'money can't buy' as they say. He would have incurred 'expenses' during this transaction no doubt, and they would have to be re-imbursed.

Joe, is that how you think it works .... i would put money on it that there were some nice tangible benefits from that deal for Dolan and anyone that believes otherwise, imo, is very naive. I am not going to debate or reason on this one .... because common sense tells me it is pointless.

Colm, you are so blinded by your sources, you'd believe anything he they tell you. In fairness, you have see the other side of the thing.

Says the poster who supports a different club but yet who keeps bringing up the ex-manager of CCFC, who left our club 7 months ago. Run along to Noelly boy, I'm sure he has another fantasy or two for you that he just can't let go....

The situation regarding agents and advisors is as follows:
Agent: As Pete says, you have to be registered with your national association, and when your client moves, the club which signs him pays you a fee.
Advisor: You don't have to be registered, but if a club pays you a fee its an illegal payment. HOWEVER, if your client receives money from the deal, they are then allowed to pay you for the advice you have given them.

Roy Keane, AFAIK, uses the adviser route and pays his solicitor/adviser .

The only difference between the two is that the agent is paid by the club, the adviser is paid by the player.

This is most likely the scenario. I am sure Cork City have learned from this. And, at the end of the day €117,000, plus an extra €10, 000 when he makes his International debut ain't half bad either for a player Cork City or anybody else hadn't heard about 2 years ago. It should have been more, but if he held out on his contract till the end of the season, it would have been shag all, so all in all, its been an invaluable lesson for Cork and the Eircom League in general.

At the moment, what other young starlets out there might be snapped up? I can't think of too many. Roy O'Donovan, young Kelly at Bohs, McCourt at Derry (maybe) are young enough and good enough to attract attention, so I hope their contracts are watertight.

"He"?? A face, I haven't spoken to Pat Dolan in about 4 or 5 months and you should know that.

My 'sources' (for want of a better word) don't even like PD so why would they lie about it?
Think about it. Maybe it's other people who are blinded by their baffling dislike for PD. In your own words, "you have to see the other side of the thing"!!
