Thats how Bishopsgate got their floodlights installed in mid 90s.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

I'm hazy ont the details with the 90's getting scarily further away in the rearview mirror. A bunch of money was being dished out to clubs 90's for floodlights. Part of a Sky deal, not to show LoI but to kind of not show it. Either UEFA or EU rules meant if Sky were officially braodcasting EPL games in to a country they couldnt go head to head with the domestic games in that country. The solution was for Sky to pay for floodlights so that we didnt have to play in the Sunday afternoon slot and many LoI clubs moved games to Friday nights. Again vaguely, I recall some clubs either not recieving all the money after they had installed lights, or that money paid out was not used to install lights - either way there was some messing. The Oriel Park lights got an upgrade, I recall walking up to Oriel after and it looked like the whole town was lit by the new improved Oriel lights, with everyone going wtf. It actually gave a little insight into the awe there must have been, of people going to the first games under floodlights in Oriel in the 60s when only a couple grounds had floodlights (Oriel Park wasnt always a kip....). Anyway that why there was a flurry of lights going in in and around that time for anyone who may not be old enough to remember such heady days of having an entire terrace to yourelf if you wanted.

I remember reading about this myself! Thought it was a classic Irish solution - pay em off to shut them up. We could have demanded a % of their revenue at the beginning!

I counted 7 in the away terrace from Wexford at the Dundalk game, not even sure there were any in the reserved area of main stand, either way call it 15 max away fans.

And may I add, hats off to each and every one of them, that's a 2.5 hour journey min, each way.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

It a real LoI thing to do that. You dont have to squeeze 100 people in to an area of 50 like the....ultras, but I never got why fans dont group together in a section and help atmosphere. Its almost as if they dont want to be seen together!
