    New deals for Hoops trio
    29/09/2005 - 11:43:33

Celtic youngsters Darren O’Dea, Diarmuid O’Carroll and Michael McGlinchey have all signed extended contracts with the club.

Attacking midfielder McGlinchey, 18, has committed himself to the Hoops until June 2009, while Republic of Ireland Under-19 internationals O’Dea and O’Carroll (also 18) have penned new contracts which will run until the end of June 2008.

Celtic reserve team manager Kenny McDowall said: “We are delighted to have secured these three players on extended contracts.

“While they are well aware of the hard work which lies ahead of them, each of these lads has the potential to achieve a lot in the next few years.

“I am sure that during this period, they will be doing their very best to make an impact at the club and, hopefully, in the future be regular contributors to Celtic’s first team.”

O'Dea has actually made the bench for the first team this year.

Despite his name, I think McGlinchey is actually a Scot. Can anyone confirm for me pls?

Ulster and Scotland are so similar sometimes it's scary. McGlinchey is one of the most obvious Ulster names there is, I assumed the chap was an Irish player that I hadn't heard of.
