The sports management consultants Genesis yesterday issued a 44-page report following 4 months of consultations on the future of the Eircom league. One of the key recommendations is to scrap the present 12-team premier division and the 10-team first division. Replacing it with a 10-team premier division, and two 10 teams first division. That would be split north and south.
This was only one recommendation. Obviously a major statement on the future of Irish football.
And reading today’s paper I see 3 clubs were not represented at this summit. Sligo Rovers was one of them. I would like to know why?
