Kerry FC will officially kick off the 2025 campaign with the Grandons Toyota Munster Senior Cup Last 16! We will face Cobh Ramblers FC on Friday, January 17th at 19:30 in Mounthawk Park.
Kerry enjoyed a good run to the final last year. Hopefully can go on and win it this year but a difficult opening round encounter awaits.

KERRY V COBH RAMBLERS
Hard to know what to expect this evening. Cobh seemed to have signed well in the off season so far and have lofty ambitions. The MSC is probably higher on Kerry's list of priorities but that's not always enough as seen in the final v Waterford last year.
Sure I'll go with an optimistic prediction that we'll go through. 2-1 home win.

Don't know what to expect so im going for a 1 1 draw. Will be interesting to see how the set pieces play out with the added height the new signings bring.
Win or lose, the big questions for tonight will be who the management consider to be their starting XI for now, and whether they'll be prepared to gamble on Luke Palmer if the game's still in the balance with 20-25 minutes to go. A win would certainly be important to both teams, given the loser will have to arrange a raft of friendlies to keep things ticking over for another four weeks!
Starting XI: Doran - O'Connell, Aladesanusi, McQueen, Dunne, Crowe - Brockwell, Gleeson, McGrath - Kelliher, Okwute.
I think it's possibly the strongest starting XI available. Trusting the management's judgement on the new players in this. Doran, Dunne, McQueen and Brookwell are understandably starting. Going to be a tough game against Cobh. The Kerry management want to progress. No doubt about that. Conor McCarthy's comments during the week are clear that they know they're in for a tough game.
STARTING XI
1. CONNAL DORAN
2. ALEX DUNNE
5. CHRIS MCQUEEN
18. SAMUEL ALADESANUSI
3. SEAN O'CONNELL
28. NIALL BROOKWELL
7. SEAN MCGRATH (C)
4. ORAN CROWE
13. NATHAN GLEESON
11. DANIEL OKWUTE
9. RYAN KELLIHER

Cobh are, understandably, one of the promotion favourites, so as you say, all about putting in a respectably competitive performance tonight, and if we emerge with a positive result, do much the better.
I think we can definitely call it an improvement on Killarney, as Captain Seanie scores on the double to give Kerry a 2-0 HT lead!![]()
Disappointing to lose. Would have been good to go on another cup run. Understandable substitutions had to be made at this stage of preseason. The 5 Munster LoI clubs should possibly consider if 4 groups of 4, something Leinster did last year, is something that would be suitable at this time of year.
Strong indication last night of what might be the strongest starting XI for the season ahead. Will be interesting to see if Seanie keeps the captain's armband. He'll be a popular choice.

Thought Sam was very good. Seems to have really bulked up. Like a new signing. Dan with 2 assists worked hard and if he keeps that attitude will be a big pllayer for us.
New signings all had good and bad moments but I think Brookwell could play a big part. Seanie very good again.
Good workout for the team with a healthy crowd.
All 4 goals were sloppy to concede. The keeper should be saving the first. Was it a penalty for the second? Own goal unfortunate. The age old problem then of defending set plays for the fourth. Best to learn from those mistakes now and have it sorted by the time Finn Harps visit.

Though it must be admitted that in a league game, Dunne and Brockwell would have played the 90, so quite possibly there would have been more structure in the second half in that case,
