Capacity has just been increased to 5,100. I'm not exactly sure what happened for it to go up, but it was increased by 800
If they have, I haven't seen it.
The figure was reduced to 4,300 just after Covid there was a new engineers report at the end of last season which ratified the new safe holding capacity to 5 ,200 which comes into effect on Monday.
To be fair the ground is definitely well able to hold 5k. There's been over 6k+ capacity games in there in years gone by. I'm not going full hog on a conspiracy that GUFC would have sold more than the 4300 capacity but it did strike me as peculiar that there wasn't regular social media posts leading up to the game telling people that there was a chance the game would sell out and to buy tickets early.
Just odd they'd get within 70 people of capacity and to not have made a big deal over the scarcity like they're usually in too much of a rush to do.
With the stands combined, that's about 3K seats (open to correction), is there really room for 2 or even 3K more standing behind the clubhouse goal and around the perimeter?
There is standing room at the back of the old stand and room at the other 3 sides to accommodate the extra 900.
Took longer than might have been expected, but Kerry v Dundalk looks to have sold out, going by the ticket section of the club website.
1,200 - there were 1,150 at the first Cork game last season, and you'll always get some few no shows.

Heady days. There used to be a 'domestic fast-track' security queue in Dublin airport.
Used to be fairly regular for us fans going to Cork away. Flight from Belfast City-Cork, or Dublin-Cork (or even Derry-Stansted-Cork).
The team used to always fly to Cork the day before the match. Aer Arann had a Derry-Cork route with a stop in Dublin, or they'd go from Belfast City. The bus would drop them off at the airport, then drive down to Cork empty to bring them back up.
We went bust around that time too, for one reason or another.
In fairness its hard to resist at €20 for the flight
Something pretty wrong with our carbon emissions plan in that case!
Some friends of mine rent a Driveyou/Gocar/Yuko carsharing car in Dublin and the 4 of them head off to away matches, costs about €80 between the 4 of them and insurence and petrol are free.
Only draw back is someone has to volunteer to be designated driver each week , they are always on the look out for a non drinker![]()
