I reckon the FAI more or less know the last five clubs to be added. The fact that they extended the deadline was more than likely to give these clubs a chance to meet the necessary requirements that the FAI set out. Limerick FC have confirmed they have applied again and social media posts also suggest that Trim Celtic were among those who have re-applied.

Is it the same as the book of the same name person? Yer man Lukens was ISFC and I thought had something to do with Athlone for a bit. Was afraid that Dundalk would be a target and become Irelands Armenian club.

I feel it's important to reply to this point. The St. Francis of present day bears little to no resemblance of the St Francis of FAI Cup fame and former St Pats merger. The club bears the same crest and plays out of John Hyland Park but that's about it. has a huge underage section now too.
If I question Liam Scales ability to play intl football, refer me to this signature & his peformance at home at lb vs Port on Nov 13 2025.

Why have the Meath FC group appeared now, I thought the new National League would have been an option!

Probably felt they were not close to having a senior team, and thought to try to develop a local connection through having people interact with the club, rather than importing a heap of lads from around the country for a senior team.

Soccer is fairly undeveloped in Meath in general. And Navan is probably the least amount of soccer in a big town.

In saying that, soccer in the county has come on leaps and bounds at a junior level, and you are starting to have pretty good grassroots football around in Meath Proper (not just the Dublin part of Meath).

Unlike Kerry and Mayo though, they are fairly well served with LOI routes. I know Dundalk, Drogheda and Pats have all had plenty of Meath players in their Academies. A few of their GAA Inter County players have played LOI underage. I dont think that level of interaction with LOI is present with other LOI blackspot areas like Mayo, Tipp, and Clare.

I would have preferred them to play in Parkvillas pitch , rather than the MDL grounds.

Again, its another interesting experiment. Maybe they have learnt lessons from other 'County' clubs.

Personally, I think they should have friendlies at senior level if they aren't going to enter the 3rd tier... I feel Kildare or CK would have benefited from that.
