Makes some change to playing an LSL side on a glorified bog of a surface the weekend before last! There’s genuinely a benefit to both in terms of getting ready for the season though, good to have a mix of standard/style of opponents and pitches
Not a lot of chances at either end. Whitecaps had a fair amount of the ball but I thought we were comfortable enough defensively. There was an effort that Anang got his hand to and pushed onto the post but it looked like it may have crossed the line off the post. Hadn’t got the camera angle to show for sure though. Kian Leavy didn’t seem to be in the match day squad. Nor Mason Melia. Are they injured ?
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

They're both returning from injury and in training, as far as I know.

Dundalk 1 Drogs 0 - Eoin Kenny - decent game and crowd, just under 2,200.

The Malone Cup, usually won by Drogs and oddly enough even during PD era, nice to get the win, looked a decent strength Drogs, but this is all pre season stuff, all about shape and fitness.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

No it’s not, it’s about keeping the club that just won the cup, are a division above and heading into Europe in the summer, in first division Dundalk’s shadow. Apparently… https://x.com/dundalkfc/status/1885455423173484955?s=46

Drogheda have finished in the top half of the Premier table only once in nearly two decades. Form is temporary and all that.

Obviously now that Dundalk is on a downward slope, there is a bit more bite in the Louth Derby than normal. Interestingly, probably the most fans Drogheda brought to Oriel that I can remember.

The best piece of business Dundalk might have done is keeping Mayowa, Kenny and Keogh. Dundalk looked sharp, first time in a preseason for a while. Only one winner in the game. Nearly all Dundalk. Don't think Drogheda got a shot on target.

Also, 3 friendly games tonight involving Premier vs 1st Division clubs, no wins, 1 draw and 2 losses for the Premier teams. Probably doesn't mean much... Teams can be in different stages of their Preseason, but still.

They only need another 14 league titles and 11 more cups to overtake Dundalk

Great line from oriel web earlier 'The attendance of 2,197 was higher than Drogs average league attendance last season..........................

    Banter season in full swing.

Pats 1-0 up on Molde with half an hour gone.

So either Rovers have a good chance in the Conference League game this month or no chance in the league this season. Or it's a pre-season friendly that means nothing.

One of those things. Unless Molde turn it around from here and win 4-1

Finished 2-1 Pats. McClelland and Mulraney with the goals. Molde look a big physical team but they didn’t look anything special 2 weeks out from the European game

City up 5-2 vs Sligo at half time in Bishopstown. Close to our first team. Not sure about them

Cork could be like Spurs under Ardiles - hope Keating and Maguire outscore everyone else. Could be an entertaining season in fairness.

Seani looked incredible in the first division and he's been very sharp today.
Don't love being forced to play with two up top but if we score enough it could be fun

Lys Mousset scored again today in a 2-1 win for Bohs in Waterford. Big clamour building from the fans to give him a deal now.

I think Sligo were an inconsistent team (weren't we all) last year. They'd lose to Dundalk 1 week and the beat Rovers and Derry in their next 2 games. I think they may have even lost 7-0 to Drogheda? That is to say I don't think much can be read into a preseason result for any team but especially for them.

Good result today. Pre season means sweet F.A. but it's nice feeling a bit positive heading into the season. I can't say I felt that way this time last year. On Mousset he may need time to get to full match fitness but he seems more than capable of scoring goals at this level and that's something that's really needed in the Bohs squad. Having him and Whelan as options could be about as good as we can hope for. I think the squad is starting to shape up nicely if he is signed.

Two friendlies in two days for us. Played Treaty yesterday. Players spread out so not at full strength for either match.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Looks like UCD played twice today - the first team drew 0-0 against Shels, while the 19s beat North End United 3-2 in the LSC. Though they had been 3-0 up with two minutes to go, and those two late goals saw North End jump ahead of us in the table. They now wait to see if Bohs can beat Wexford on Monday to go through
