    LOI in Europe 2024

I could have sworn there was already a thread dealing with this - if I've missed it, Mods please move/edit.

Anyhow, on the above topic, this was reported in August:

"Derry City's request to stage the home leg of their Europa Conference League qualifier at Windsor Park has been turned down by governing body Uefa.
The FAI club's Brandywell ground fails to meet the required criteria to host the match and Tallaght Stadium in Dublin was the designated alternative.
However, Derry asked Uefa if they could switch the game to Windsor Park.
Uefa said the game must be played in "the same or another city within the territory of its association'."

While this is the position in September:

"The New Saints will play their home Europa League Conference matches at the home of English League One side Shrewsbury Town.
Oswestry-based Saints will host Djurgarden, Astana and Panathinaikos after becoming the first club from the Cymru Premier to reach the group phase of a European competition.
They also face away trips to Fiorentina, Shamrock Rovers and Celje.
The club's own Park Hall stadium meets Uefa regulations for staging qualifying games, but not matches in the main draw of European competitions.
'We’d like to thank Shrewsbury Town for allowing us to host these historic matches at the Croud Meadow,' said The New Saints chairman Mike Harris."

Tbf, Shrewsbury (22 mls.) is a heck of a lot closer than other suitable/available grounds in Wales, eg Cardiff or Wrexham, but still, these do seem to be double standards.

This is the thread you’re looking for: https://foot.ie/threads/288050-LoI-i...pe-2024/page81

Also Wrexham's ground is only 14 miles away from TNS's ground so it’s closer than Shrewsbury's

It looks like the issue is the availability of one ground in Wales for all three games.
