Finn Harps’ caretaker manager Anthony Gorman has expressed his disappointment after his side’s agonizing FAI Carlsberg Cup exit at the hands of eircom League leaders Cork City at the weekend.

Gorman’s side, fully 37 points behind Cork in the Premier Division standings, looked set for a quarter-final place when taking the lead 17 minutes from the end of Saturday’s replay at Finn Park.

However, Cork hit back through John O’Flynn four minutes from time – and sealed their passage to the last eight with a winner from Roy O’Donovan 90 seconds from the end of extra-time.

Stand-in boss Gorman told the Irish Daily Mirror: “We’re absolutely devastated. Cork were by far the better team in the first half but when we were leading 2-1 it looked good. Again we gave away soft goals and it cost us.”
