    Treaty (A)

Friday's Munster derby had the potential to be spicier than usual, following the Markets Field side's mid-season swoop for former Kerry players, but with Jack Kavanagh barely featuring at all, and Tryp Vrljcak only making an impression in the recent cup thrashing of Pike Rovers, Steven Healy is the one signing who can be considered to be an unqualified success for the neighbours. For a local rivalry to develop, there has to be an element of jeopardy when the teams clash, and while the Limerick side's 2023 H2H record was too pronounced for that to develop, the 2024 results have been precisely balanced, with a win, draw and loss apiece in the previous league outings (we'll discount the MSC game given an Academy/Reserve team was involved), and with neither team in outstanding form, Friday's encounter should, to pardon the cliché, be delicately poised. The major question for Kerry, as we saw last week, is who will provide the attacking threat when Kelliher is either closely marked or out of the game, and it's certainly time for the rest of the squad to pull their weight in that regard. With no new injury concerns, and Andy Spain fit again, Conor McCarthy appears to have a full squad from which to choose, so there appears no reason why Kerry shouldn't be targeting at least a draw on Friday, even if Treaty will have more than a point to prove after the Bray game!

I think after the break, Treaty showed good form including winning 1.4 in Longford, drawing with UCD & with Cork & beating Harps & scoring seven v Pike Rovers. Players had come in & it was looking like a strong finish to the season.

Then two weeks ago V Wexford with a chance of catching Wexford for that last play off spot, and it was on. Wexford (H) then Bray (A) but Treaty lost both games heavily. Conceded eight goals, scored one & had two players sent off & five bookings across the two key games. Its a very good time to play us I think because there's discontent again, this isn't where Limerick soccer should be at all & the season is over league wise. These players look to have tapped out particularly v Bray. Manager sounds more & more defensive in interviews. Investors will be asking what was the point of signing, Lee Jay Lynch for example, to get hammered when it matters. So I'm not sure about the point to prove thing, I think whoever wants it more will win Friday & our lads look like they don't want it at all.

A big big performance is needed today. Treaty's confidence will certainly be low and if we come out of the blocks ready to go, there is no reason we cannot get a win.

    Im going for 3-1 Kerry

Another 3 points thrown away, each week this happens it gets harder to take. Must be playing on the players minds at this stage too. Hard to see where another win will come from between now and end of season.

Tbh lads delighted with my clubs win last night as thoroughly deserved but I fear we have left it too late. We should have beaten ye few wks ago and had noone to blame but ourselves!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
