A real shame the way the season ended for Keeley with his mistake in the first half ending up costing Leyton Orient promotion. Will be interesting to see if he gets a Championship loan or move next season regardless, but failing that Leyton Orient will definitely take him back, he was a huge positive for them this season despite what happened today.

Getting blame for a soft goal on sky sports having watched the ball all the way and getting his hands to it. However, wouldn’t have been in the final if it wasn’t for his clean sheets. Seems a confident lad, so should learn from it. Hopefully him and O’Neill will be playing at a higher level next year.

I think the issue was more the way he set up the wall. He left the Charlton player with far too much goal to aim at. Hopefully the kind of thing he will learn from, but harsh that it happened in such a high profile game.

I don't know...it's a decent free kick in fairness with a good curl on it. Maybe he should have been standing a pace more to his left and agreed on the wall. I don't think it's going to affect his confidence much regardless.

I thought Sky went over board on the criticism of Keeley, especially the co commentator (Lee Hendrie I think).

They would never go in that hard on a young English keeper.

Ah in fairness I don’t think him being Irish is anything to do with the criticism. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the likes of Lee Hendrie didn’t even know that he wasn’t English. And yes I know that’s a pundit/commentators job to know those things about players in a game he’s covering! Incompetence is rife among them though

I don't want to be too hard on the young fella especially as he did so much to get Orient there ~ But you would expect that shot to be saved at that level. Who-ever / his, setting up of the wall wasn't good either.

Would Irish supporters go easy on a foreign goal-keeper for not saving that ?

I suppose these are the kinds of things, where a young man finds out if he wants/ needs the pressure of being a goal-keeper / footballer at the higher levels of professional soccer.

By all accounts he had a great season for Orient, the fans will be disappointed but they will remember the season fondly in time !

I do think Sky and other UK commentators tend to be less critical of English players on their broadcasts than overseas players. Particularly ones that are either senior or underage internationals.

I noticed an example recently where Arsenal conceded a goal, largely because Bukayo Saka jogged back rather than sprinted back after Arsenal lost the ball up the field. After about the fourth replay clearly showing what had happened they finally muttered something about how Saka maybe could have done a little bit more or something like that. I think they'd have been slaughtering a non-England player for doing the same thing.

I also noticed it last season with James Trafford committing all sorts of howlers in the Premier League as Burnley were relegated. They seemed to be far slower to highlight the mistakes than they had been when Bazunu had similar struggles for Southampton the season before.

I have watched Keeley on several occasions including the City game, the playoffs, and the playoff final in Wembley. it was the only mistake he made in about 5 games I watched him. I would agree that the wall was set up incorrectly. Perhaps he was over confident in his ability. However I think this lad has a bright future, seems intelligent to learn from this mistake. Reckon he will go out on loan again.

I was surprised in real time that it went in as I was expecting him to puish it around the post. Orient supporting colleague at work agrees he could have done better but says nobody is blaming him as he has been so good this season.
