Somebody needs to change the url to fantasyfoot.ie - BK will not call up a 29 year old nobody, and invest the necessary time in determining if he has the ability to jump 3 levels. Lunacy...![]()
Jesus is this clutching at straws, the man is an average lower league player, forget about him, if he was any good he'd be in a better league...
Also he'd be playing for England...

I agree he would be in a better league if he was a better player but I seriously doubt he would be playing for England.Originally Posted by Condex

I think it's pointless to suggest giving Lee Trundle a game in a friendly while playing for Swansea in League 1. I'd give both Doyler and Andrew Keogh a game before him. Both are young and have the potential to be playing at a higher level when they are Trundle's age. Also I'd say Keogh will score more goals than him this season in League 1.
trundle will almost be top scorer
Both Trundle & Doyle scored tonight
"I always likened him to a Rolls Royce. You just used him once a week & he'd be flawless"
Townsend on McGrath
Having seen him play, I can catagorically state that Trundle is quality.
And also, about him not playing at a higher level - surprising as it may seem, some players do still have some integrity in hand. When he left Wrexham, which was because of the teams terrible finances, he decided to go to Swansea for a number of reasons, rejecting offers from league 1 and championship clubs, and reportdely a few premiership teams too.
Saying that, Doyler needs a chance before him.
I called Trundle up for Ireland in Championship Manager a few years ago and I won the World Cup - he was a legend. Surely if he can to it in Championship Manager he can do it in real life...
I wish Brian Kerr would use friendlies for what they are meant for - testing out players without the pressure of being in a competitive match where points are on stake. What is the point of playing Robbie and Clinton in a friendly? We all know what they can do! David Connolly should be in that squad in my opinion ahead of Doherty (God I nearly cried when I seen his big head pop out from the dugout against France) and Trundle, Elliot, Doyle and whoever else should at least be given a chance to prove themselves in friendlies.
what exactly has trundle done, other than score goals for some crap team in a crap league, where anyone with a half decent touch could look good? And even then, he's only done it for a year or two of his career.
Like I said, that's exactly what most people would have said about Doyle, and before you go on about U-21 and European games, Elliott is the U-21 top scorer and isn't setting the world on fire at senior level and as for European games, the majority of the teams in the Championship are far superior the European oppostion Doyle's faced in the last 2 years.Originally Posted by Éanna
Quite frankly you and Pablo are making this folder a chore to read in recent times.
I'd be happier if you made the case for Doyle to be called up now, rather than b!tch about how he should have been called up before now.
I think Trundle would be lost in International football...if he started that showboating against a decent international defender they would not take long to sort him out..then again i also agree its no harm trying him out in a friendly but with more important games coming up thats a no-go for a bit...on Doyle i really do not think he is near ready yet..he needs to settle down with Reading and have a decent season and next year he will definetly get a call for a friendly..lads also in fairness will you lot stop arguing about who is wrong and right..we will see in time if these players are good enough Kerr or whoever will be managing Ireland are hardly going to ignore decent strikers..and on Gary Doherty the reason he is in the squad is because he is versatile and can also change the style of play with his height when we need it up-front..he is not great though..
Trundle plays in League One last time i checked.Originally Posted by tetsujin1979

Maybe Trundle could be the next Aldridge?
Aldridge was 26 when he started professional football with Oxford.
Trundle was 25 when he joined the English league with Wrexham.
Aldridge was 29 when he joined the top flight with Liverpool. He was 30 when he scored the first of his 19 international goals.

C.Ronaldo showboats almost every time he has the ball and he's regarded as a top class player. Anyway, Trundle doesn't showboat at every opportunity.Originally Posted by RedX

Some of the stuff in those video's would beat most defenders. When he's playing for Swansea he's always tightly marked by one player (just look at the video's for evidence) and another 1 or 2 are quickly over when he has the ball. I'd love to see him at a higher level with players of his own ability. He's much too good for his current division.
seen them all before but i could watch the guy all day long, hes pure quality and it dont matter how good the defender is, the speed of his footwork marks him out as a top level performer. with that natural ability he should have the chance to prove himself
Can't see why we can't give him a go good crowd entertainment if nothing else.If it does not work out so what, look what happened to Paul Butler and John Macken never to be seen again.
